2024, Latvia.
"She said what?!" Sam questioned.
Clover and Sam had managed to meet up with Bucky and Maria. Shortly after that, Sam was receiving a call from his sisters back in Louisiana.
"Right. Hold on, hold on. I know, I know. Listen. Pack an overnight bag and take the boys."
"What happened?" Bucky asked.
Sam turned towards Bucky as he lowered his phone while still remaining on the phone call.
"Karli called Sarah. She threatened my nephews." He explained.
"That piece of shit!" Clover remarked.
Sam lifted the phone back up to his ear.
"Okay. Go somewhere safe. Only pay cash. Alright? Let me know when you get there. I know. Look, I love you. I'll never let anything happen to you and the boys, you know that. Okay. Bye."
Once he hung up, he put his phone away in his pocket. The quartet stopped as Sam did so.
"Karli wants to meet. She left a contact number." He said.
Just like that, his phone buzzed again, and it was a text message from Karli.
"That's probably her." Clover muttered.
The text message on Sam's phone read the following:
The rooftop above North Plaza. Now. Come alone.
"She said come alone." He sighed.
"I'm coming with you." Bucky stated.
Maria nodded in agreement, as did Clover. So, without arguing at all, they suited up and went to meet Karli at the meeting location. Maria, lacking any other suit, had her old Widow suit from when she was still under HYDRA's control, though she had removed the HYDRA logo clipped to her belt. While Clover had their somewhat signature coat gifted to them by Isaac and Oliver.
"Karli!" Sam shouted.
The quartet looked up and saw Karli leaning up against the balcony above, waiting for them. Sam and Bucky went towards the upper level while Clover and Maria stayed behind.
"You think this is gonna go well?" Maria whispered.
"No idea." Clover simply answered.
"I like your suit, by the way." Maria said.
Clover glanced over at the woman briefly, then looked back up towards Karli.
"Thanks." They muttered.
Finally, Sam and Bucky made it up to the upper level.
"You called my sister? That's how we're gonna play this?" Sam asked Karli.
"Sam, I would never hurt her. I just wanted to understand you better." Karli told him.
She looked towards Bucky, who stood a little further away from Sam, then down towards Clover and Maria.
"I see you, um, didn't come alone." She pointed out.
"You have to end this now." Sam told her.
"I don't wanna hurt you." Karli said. "You're just a tool in the regimes I want to destroy. You're not hiding behind a shield. If I were to kill you, it'd be meaningless."
A bit perplexed by the whole thing, Sam glanced towards Bucky. Down below, Maria nervously glanced around at each individual in the area, albeit Sam, Karli, Bucky, then Clover.
"I was gonna ask you to join me. Or do the world a favour and let me go." Karli added.
It took everything in Clover's power to not voice out their thoughts about how this all sounded like bullshit to them. They didn't want to make things worse for anyone. Sam glared at Karli silently, until he heard his comm go off. It was Sharon.
