2024, Louisiana.
Sam and Clover had eventually reached Sarah's house. Sarah and Clover sat at a table on the porch while having something to eat while Sam was out with AJ and Cass, his nephews.
"Good job, guys. In about, 10 years, we'll have this thing fixed." Sam told his nephews. "Would be fun to take the boat out one more time, before we sell it? There's a great spot in in the Grand Isle your grandfather used to take me to catch a lot of fish."
"But Mom said we can't sell it." The older boy, AJ, stated.
A/N: Idk if the older nephew is AJ or Cass but for the purpose of this chapter, imma say AJ is the older one.
Sarah and Clover looked up at the net as Sam gave his nephew a puzzled look.
"What?" He asked.
"It's too messed up." AJ explained. "Mr Dinh said he wouldn't buy it 'cause it cost more to fix."
"And then he said something else in Vietnamese." Cass added.
"Yeah." AJ chuckled.
Sam looked up at Sarah, still confused as hell. He muttered something to the boys and Sarah approached him, knowing he wanted to talk to her alone.
"Clover keep an eye on the boys, will you?" Sam told Clover.
"Yeah. I will." Clover shrugged.
When Sam and Sarah went into the house, Sarah began reaching for something in the fridge.
"Why didn't you say somethin'?" Sam asked her.
"Because I didn't wanna tell you last night when you we're lookin' all sad puppy dog in the rain." Sarah explained.
"It was a rough day." Sam said. "For me and for Clover."
"You mean with Isaiah Bradley?" Sarah asked.
"And what they did to him." Sam added.
"You wanna talk about it?"
"No... I'm trying to figure out what it all means."
"Okay, well, I'm here." Sarah reassured her brother as she approached the fridge again. "But as far as the boat is concerned, bottom line is, Mr Dinh backed out. I don't know what to do. Parts alone on that thing are gonna eat up most of what we get back."
"Listen to me. Don't worry. I'm gonna fix the boat." Sam stated.
"Aren't you supposed to be off saving the world?" Sarah chuckled. "Why you back here bothering me?"
"'Cause my family's well-being is a part of the world." Sam told her.
"So you're both waiting for a lead?" Sarah questioned.
"And the government stepped in and took control and kind of benched us." Sam chuckled.
Cass came in with his school bag on, and AJ followed close behind him. Clover walked in, leaning up against the wall as Sarah handed her son some food.
"Please make sure Bennett and Elling each get one. Okay?" She said.
"Okay."
"Alright. Bye."
"Have a good day at school, guys." Sam spoke up.
As the boys shut the door, Sarah turned to Sam.
"Bennett and Elling's dad cannot get up before noon. Kids keep showing up hungry but are too proud to ask for any help." She explained.
"Kinda reminds me of my brothers." Clover muttered.
"And you're just like Mom, feeding every kid in the neighbourhood." Sam chuckled at his sister. "How many people still owe Mom and Dad something?"
