:AUTHOR'S POV:
It had been a week since "The Big Party"
Knock knock
"Come in."
"Eli! Wanna hang out this weekend?" Ari smiled as her head peeked out from behind the door
"I'm your boss, White." Elvin said in his usual manner
"But I wanna be your friend!" Ari sat down on the chair across him
Elvin stopped typing and looked at Ari with a look she couldn't read but it for sure made her scared
"Never."
Ari cleared her throat as a distraction from the uncomfortable silence and finally got up.
"Oh look at that!" She looked at her imaginary wrist watch "Looks like I've gotta go back to work!" She awkwardly chuckled and ran outside to her office
Elvin was amused "Weirdo." He chuckled
But no matter how much he tried to get rid of this particular thought, he couldn't
"Have I seen her before?" He sighed and tilted his head in confusion and frustration
Knock knock
Elvin sighed "Come in."
"Um I don't have anything to do." Ari scratched her head and nervously chuckled
Without looking, Elvin put 5 files in front of her and made a gesture for her to take them and get out
Ari gave him an apologetic look and left once again
2 hours later
Ari had to make some copies and decided to go downstairs.
She got in the elevator. She was alone in it. She smiled to herself while listening to the music from her earphones while slowly bobbing her head.
As she got out the music had stopped.
She went towards the copier with the earphones still in her ears and greeted everyone with the usual smile.
The company had five floors and the second one always stayed the busiest. The fourth floor was the one in which Elvin's and Ari's offices were in. Ari was on the second floor. She knew the company pretty well by now, as well as the people.
She started to do what she was supposed to do, and since this floor was the most busy, people started to line up right behind her pretty soon.
'They should definitely get more copiers. Or atleast fix the ones that stopped working.' Ari thought to herself.
Ari looked behind her and gave a apologetic smile and started looking ahead again.
"Gosh, it's her." She heard a woman whisper.
"Look at that fake smile. Geez."
"Look at her hogging the copier. She must think she's something just because she's Mr.Emaldi's assistant."
"She probably got the job through some connections."
"You know, I heard somewhere that she slept with Mr.Emaldi to get this position."
"Really? No way. Mr.Emaldi has standards."
Quiet laughs were heard.
Ari's smile was slowly fading.
"I can hear everything." Ari said not bothering to look behind
Ari heard shushing sounds and even some giggles.
"So what?"
Just as Ari was about to say something, she was interrupted
"I'll tell you what."
Ari turned her head and was surprised to see Elvin right beside her.
"Mr.Emaldi!" They exclaimed in worry and one of them tried to explain "We were just joking, Arya was-"
Elvin put his hand up as a sign for everybody to stay quiet
"Sorry, I don't speak skank." Elvin said casually while crossing his arms
Ari looked down to hide her laugh.
10 minutes later
ARYA
Eli and I were now in his office standing face to face.
I smiled smugly "We need to get more copiers, don't ya think?"
"You're such a pain in the ass." Eli sighed
I chuckled "You didn't have to fire them, you know?" I said in a proud tone
"I don't need people like them in here." He looked away from me
"Thank you, Eli!" I took a step and stood where he was looking
He looked straight into my eyes and took a step closer.
I didn't think much of it.
"You're weird." He said
"Yes, Yes. I think you've said that enough." I chuckled
He took another step closer and bent down a little matching my eye level. Still staring deep into my eyes.
The little sunlight that peeked from the closed curtains shined on the both us.
"You make me...feel weird." He said in a quiet voice that could almost be mistaken as a whisper
I tilted my head in confusion "What do you mean?" I smiled
He suddenly tore his eyes away from mine and went back to desk.
"You should go back."
I looked at him for awhile and chuckled "Who's the weirdo now?" I said and went back to my office
