:AUTHOR'S POV:
"You really said that?" Valerie chuckled softly, proud of Ari for telling the pervert off
"I did! Aren't I badass?"
"You are, but if you say you're badass, that kinda takes the meaning out of it." Valerie teased Ari
"I don't care, I'm badass!" Ari proudly said.
Valerie rolled her eyes playfully.
Ari took a quick glance at her watch "I need to go now, Work tomorrow." Ari smiled apologetically
"Yeah, me too, actually. Do you want me to walk you home?" Valerie looked at Ari with no emotion, trying to cover up the fact that she wants to spend more time with her
"No! I'm a badass now, remember? I think I'll be okay. Plus it's a short walk and It's not even that dark yet." Ari chuckled nervously while looking out the window, not wanting to bother Valerie.
5 minutes later
"You owe me a dinner for making me take you everywhere, got it?" Valerie joked, Ari smiled at her friend smugly
"Gotta run!" Ari was already out of her place and running in full speed
"Hey!" Valerie yelled and chuckled fondly.
Valerie ran after her but was surprised when she saw Ari turning around.
Valerie stopped running immediately and froze until she finally realised what was happening.
Ari had kissed Valerie's cheek and whispered "I'll buy you dinner tomorrow." and had instantly ran off once again.
Valerie stood frozen in one spot, still processing the event that had taken place.
Ari might have considered that kiss on Valerie's cheek a friendly action but it had a affect on Valerie that she couldn't quite explain.
Her stomach was doing cartwheels, her face was heating up and she had gotten goosebumps.
When she finally came to her senses, she realised that she had loved that feeling.
She wasn't going to try and not like Ari like she had planned to anymore.
She was going to like her as much as she wants, feel butterflies when Ari was near, get jealous when she saw Ari with other people and...confess when it's the right time. She'll get rejected, yes, but that doesn't mean she has to try and repress what she feels, does it?
She's in love with her best friend, and she's happy she feels that way.
The next day
"What is it, dev? I'm busy." Elvin asked the boy infront of him who had dropped by unannounced
"C'mon! We haven't hung out in so long. let's go out, have fun! You know?" Devin asked in a pleading tone
"No." Elvin looked straight into Devin's eyes
"That's all you have to say? Not gonna ask where we're goin'?" Devin questioned
"We're not going anywhere." Elvin sighed and went to his work
"Oh c'mon! Just this once, I'm going to ask Ari to come...?" Devin said in a smug tone, hoping Ari coming would change his mind...and for some reason Elvin couldn't figure out...that's exactly what it did.
Elvin looked up at Devin "You're taking my Ar-" realising what he was about to say, he stopped in the middle of sentence. He cleared his throat and continued "You're taking my assistant? Then I have the right to know where you're going, just in case of a emergency." He turned back to his computer, trying to look uninterested.
Devin smiled to himself "It's this big party. Our old friend, Cameron? remember him, right? He's hosting it, everyone from work, old friends, they're all going to be there. What do you say? It's this weekend." Devin waited for his response.
Elvin sighed "Fine."
"See you there, Vin! I'll go ask Ari now." Devin had left
ELVIN
Knock Knock
"Come in." I answered. "Eli! I Heard you're going to the party. I'm going too! I didn't think you were a party person." She chuckled, sitting down on the chair in front of me
"No. I hate parties." I glanced over at Ari.
She smiled at my response "Then...Dev convinced you, huh?" She started spinning around in her chair. Can she not stay still? I scowled at the girl in front of me
"Convinced? more like whined." I could hear her giggle at my response.
She started spinning the chair even faster
"Miss White? I don't think you have that much time to waste. Was that all you were here for? If you were, then you can leave now." I went back to my work
"Right."
She started to leave, but kept stumbling. I looked away, wanting to hide the fact that I was smiling.
I furrowed my eyebrows together, confused as to why I was smiling.
I shook my head and looked back at files that were in my hand.
I heard fast footsteps. I looked at the door.
Ari had come in once again and yelled "I forgot to tell you that Val's coming to the party too!" And ran off.
