ELVIN

I heard her clear her throat. I glanced at her, "Yes, White?"

"Huh? I didn't say anything." She said. Her voice full of mischief.

I sighed and held back a smile

"I know you like the back of my hand now. I think I can tell when you're curious." I said unamused

"Um...I just- um- about last night...when you said that you got those tattoos when you were 16..is that true?" She looked down at her hands with a nervous grin "I mean not to say that they're bad or anything. They're great! Sexy even."

"Oh?"

"I meant- that the tattoos are good."

"So, they're not sexy? That's too bad."

"No! That's not what I meant at all. They're very sexy! I mean- the tattoos."

"So, I'm not the one who's sexy."

"Huh? Yes. What? No. You-" She took a deep breath "kill me."

I laughed, clearly amused "It seems I've successfully made you blush." I said with a smile prominent on my face

"You have a pretty smile."

Dammit White
You make me crazy

I cleared my throat "Yeah. Um.. about the tattoos.." I sighed

"To cover the scars. He took broken glass and carved words..um- words like 'scum' 'disgrace' or 'useless' and 'burden'. Once he went to prison, I thought why bear something like this when I can just turn it into something cool."

I heard a shuffle

"You're amazing, Elvin."

I looked straight ahead while a smile couldn't help but creep its way over my face

:AUTHOR'S POV:

Ari smiled, relief washing over her face. She rested her head on the seat and closed her eyes.

"What the hell..."

She heard Elvin mutter, opening her eyes instantly

"What is it?"

Elvin pointed to the sidewalk, Ari was terrified to see a dog who was laying there with blood spilling out of his hurt leg

"Could you please stop the car?" She said in a hurry, tears already pricking at the corners of her eyes

--

"You don't have to worry, He's a strong one, I assure you he's fine" The vet reassured

"I'm so glad, Thank you so much" Ari said, lighting up

"No worries, you did a great job by bringing him here on time." The vet smiled and left, leaving Ari and Elvin alone.

When Elvin looked at Ari, hoping to see her finally happy, he was surprised to see her tearing up

"Hey, It's ok, he's fine now" He said, his voice gentle

Now, she was sobbing.

She slowly walked towards Elvin, putting her head on his chest while putting both of her hands on his waist and tightly grabbing fistfuls of his denim jacket.

Elvin was shocked to say the least, but he quickly overcame the shock and slowly started patting her hair in an attemp to comfort her

"You don't have to cry now, he's fine." He said in a soft voice but couldn't help and chuckle at her unexpected-ness

"Don't laugh at me, Emaldi" she said with little sobs in between.

"I'm not-" he chuckled one last time "I'm not laughing at you. Ok, how about we get something to eat? I think I saw a food truck-" he was surprised when the weight that was on his chest vanished.

He looked at the girl that was still sniffing "And I can pay?" She asked in a small voice, he smiled "And you'll pay" he assured her.
