as night approached, wooyoung, who had nothing to do after cooking, cleaning and practicing dance for a while, decided to take a shower, then sit down and relax for a bit. thanks to his 'i don't really care' attitude, the events that took place that morning were long lost in his memory and he was back to his usual stone cold self.
he tied his wet, black hair up in a ponytail, lacking the energy to dry it instead as he went to take a seat on his beige couch. after a whole day and a half of chaos, wooyoung realised how much he actually valued and preferred his life to be like this; boring, repetitive and mediocre. there was some sort of peacefulness in sacrificing doing anything memorable in exchange for immortal comfort.
everytime wooyoung went through messy situations, he was reminded of his school days. as anyone would expect, wooyoung was always the popular type, wherever he went. though he wasn't an ideal student or son— instead, he was one that solved problems with his fist and caused trouble at least twice a month.
he really hadn't changed, deep down. he had just gotten better at controlling himself. at least he was doing well enough now, right? a freelance choreographer for idol groups and he lived in an expensive apartment just to brag and show the people he knew once that they were wrong about him.
having finished his favorite webtoon, wooyoung resorted to watching tv because he really had nothing to do. he surfed through netflix, trying to find anything that was worth his time although most things on the streaming service left him feeling more bored than he was before. one of the first things that showed up on new releases was a movie; "hide and seek".
curious, wooyoung clicked on it. of course, this was the best time to watch a horror movie. wooyoung thoroughly enjoyed horror. it was his favorite genre, after all, and he'd loved them since childhood which meant he'd watched enough horror movies to become immune to them. and this very movie had park seonghwa in it, too. what a win win situation.
excited, he huddled up in his blanket, putting on his glasses.
this is it, wooyoung thought to himself, this is real talent. wooyoung admired seonghwa and his range so much—how he could play the roles of a soft and chivalrous love interest in a cheesy romcom as well as a psychotic murderer in a horror film so well.
wooyoung obliviously compared his skills with that of choi san, and he concluded that san was comparatively not as versatile. he starred primarily in romance comedies and tv dramas, which in wooyoung's opinion, were easier to act in compared to the action and crime films seonghwa showed up in. not like he knew anything about acting and the film industry, though. he knew he was being unfair holding their skills against the other, but he really couldn't help it. when you hate a person to bits, your first instinct is to always find faults in them no matter how trivial they are, just so you can remind yourself exactly why that hatred even exists. in this case, wooyoung was simply trying to add more pieces to his thesis on why san could never truly be a certified actor in his eyes.
a thud outside his apartment brought him to his senses. he glanced at the door for a moment before deducing that it was none of his business, going back to watching the movie again. upon hearing a slurred voice through the walls, he decided it was really not something to be worried about because this was always common, especially on weekends. noisy people that are drunk off their ass. thank god, he thought to himself. he really didn't want to go through the trouble of getting up in case it was actually something of concern.
he pulled out his phone to scroll through his social media after a whole week, diverting his attention from the movie he was supposed to be watching.
over 20 unread messages.
wooyoung didn't even raise an eyebrow at that. keeping in touch with people really wasn't his thing when it came to social media. he found texting to be a hassle, and only used his messaging apps when necessary. besides that, he only occasionally caught up on what his friends and acquaintances were up to, out of sheer boredom. yeosang had posted a selfie with a guy wooyoung failed to recognize, and the pair were at a bar. wooyoung shook his head. this boy literally wouldn't be functioning if it weren't for alcohol.
for some reason, choi san was literally on the first post on his discovery page. he groaned. how does this algorithm even work? wooyoung had always either reported or marked any posts related to choi san as 'not interested' just so he could avoid looking at his stupid face. the amount of reporting he'd done that turned out to be false reports almost cost him his account, but he didn't really care. though he said he didn't spread hate over his dislike for choi san.... this was just a side hobby.
he looked around himself like he were up to shady business, before clicking on the post instead of scrolling past this time, out of pure curiosity he'd never admit to. it was the same news he'd heard about on the tv when he was with yeosang— those dating rumors between san and his co-star on that stupid boss and secretary drama. he read through the comments, raising his eyebrows. there were quite a lot of fangirls and fanboys claiming san to be their boyfriends, and a hell lot of misogyny as well. being a celebrity really must be hard.
did this have something to do with san moving into the apartments? wooyoung wondered, trying to come up with a reasonable explanation to get rid of that annoying feeling he had. it didn't really add up that well when simply put together, but san was truly always in the spotlight. did him and his management really think hiding san was the best solution to all of this?
wooyoung sighed to himself. choi san was truly the scum of all scums. he scrolled down, cringing upon coming across fan-made edits of choi san. everytime san tried to be hot or sexy, wooyoung felt his body tingle in disgust. he really, truly, disliked it.
three knocks at the door diverted wooyoung's attention and he dropped his phone on his face, startled. at this time?
he really hoped it wasn't who he thought it was.
