now that they'd gotten past a hardship that seemed almost impossible, wooyoung was obviously supposed to feel relieved.
instead, he felt restless, knowing that this was just the beginning. now that they were official, they would have to deal with the public response, their respective careers, etcetera, etcetera. in other words, the real hard times were starting now.
wooyoung was too afraid to check all the comments under the articles that had now increased in number by tenfold. san was sitting next to him on the sofa with no care in the world, and wooyoung was dumbstruck. no matter how little he cared about what people thought, this was just too much.
"do you really not care?" wooyoung gaped at the celebrity in wonder. his leg was bouncing up and down in anxiety, yet san seemed more laid back than usual. the celebrity looked at him confusedly.
"am i supposed to?" he mumbled dubiously, scratching his hair. "wooyoung, you shouldn't care what people say about us. i'm saying this to you as a celebrity, because it can really fuck with your mental peace. you get me?"
wooyoung dismissed his piece of advice. even if it was a good suggestion, it wasn't really a rational one. wooyoung couldn't go about the rest of his life blocking out the noise. fuck it, he thought to himself, and he let out a deep, preparatory breath, before scrolling down to the comments on the most read article. he was prepared to see it all. the death threats, the potential homophobia, the claiming of san as personal property, and whatnot. but he didn't really see this coming.
wooyoung stopped frantically bouncing his leg and he furrowed his eyebrows at the screen. he scrolled down a few more, just to double check. the responses seemed... positive?
"i came here thinking i would be angry, but i left wanting both of them for myself... hahaha."
"he looks so handsome! i understand san's decision. even i would want to settle down with a man that had a face like this."
"am i dreaming, or did san just accept a scandal! wow, he must really be in love (❛‿❛✿)"
"wow, they look so good together, i hope they last a long time٩(˘◡˘)۶"
"choi san coming out is the last thing i expected for this year. i wish them happiness^^"
there were many more comments, all of them from well-wishers, and wooyoung felt like he was getting his blessings from all of san's fanbase as they accepted him in. he leaned back against the couch, still perplexed as he showed the phone screen to san.
if anything, he was grateful that there was almost no backlash, and people had accepted them almost instantly. wooyoung was relieved. throughout their relationship, all he ever worried about was the people's reaction if they were caught. now, he understood why san suggested going public by themselves in the first place. since they'd said it on their own, san's fanbase felt that he trusted them enough to do so, and hence, the reaction was positive. it was a good move on his half.
san snatched the phone from his grasp, scrolling through all the comments one by one and grinning at them, even though he'd just told wooyoung to not care what people say. "wait," he looked up, the smile on his face suddenly gone. "did you really have to give them pictures of your face? all these girls are talking about how much they want you. hold on, let me resp—"
"don't be so childish," wooyoung interrupted, taking his phone back. san looked genuinely offended and he sat up straight.
"are you really gonna let them say all that?" he scoffed. "you know what? i'll do it myself," he groaned, hurriedly taking his own phone out of his pocket. "send me the link to that article, right now."
wooyoung couldn't help but laugh at san's immatureness. as always, he was possessive over him, but wooyoung didn't really mind it. if anything, he found it quite adorable.
"hey, i'm all yours, so don't worry about what other people say, okay?" wooyoung joked, repeating san's same piece of advice. san rolled his eyes, annoyed, but still inevitably smiling upon seeing wooyoung laugh.
"don't you have to go to work tomorrow?" san asked, leaning over and laying his head down in wooyoung's lap. "i wonder what your colleagues will say."
wooyoung hadn't thought about that, either. he wanted to put it off as much as he could, but he knew he had to face them eventually. san looked up at wooyoung from beneath him as he pondered.
"...they're nice people, so they'll take it well," wooyoung responded after a pause, although it was almost like he was trying to convince himself. they were nice people, but god knows how they would react to this. it was a big secret that wooyoung had kept from them.
san nodded understandingly before sitting up straight all of a sudden. wooyoung stared at him, taken aback. "i almost forgot," san said, eyes widened. what was this about?
"what's wro—"
wooyoung's question was cut short by san's lips that passionately found their way to his, causing wooyoung to freeze in his spot. the feeling of it, no matter how many times he experienced it, wooyoung couldn't get used to it. every time he felt san's lips on his, it was like a cage of butterflies had been set free within him, making him lose all track of his surroundings.
once he was out of his daze, wooyoung reeled him in deeper, further pressing his lips against san's. he framed san's face in his hands and the celebrity's arms slithered around his waist, gently rubbing his thumb up and down his hips. the feeling of san's skin against his sent shock waves through wooyoung, and he wondered how he even survived a whole week without san's touch.
san was the first to break them apart, and he was panting as he looked down at wooyoung with those passionate, intense eyes of his. a cheeky smile tugged at his face. one that wooyoung could stare at, for the rest of his life.
"i love you," he breathed out, pressing his forehead against wooyoung's.
"...i love you, too."
