wooyoung felt like he was stuck between the two pettiest people alive.

he could feel the tension in the air and he shifted uncomfortably in the passenger seat of san's car. seonghwa sat in the back seat calmly, and san was gripping the steering wheel so tight, his knuckles had turned white. why were they behaving so strangely if they were friends? earlier in the apartment, san seemed like he didn't want seonghwa to tag along with them either. maybe he just wanted it to be the both of them? wooyoung controlled the urge to roll his eyes, because if that was the reason, then he couldn't help but be in awe at the extents of san's pettiness.

"where are we goi—"

"shut the fuck up," san interrupted seonghwa abruptly, and wooyoung pursed his lips. if only he could get out of there. he too was curious, but he felt like san would take a loss if wooyoung asked where they were headed as well.

"do you see how he treats me?" seonghwa complained. "you're lucky he's nice to you."

"i told you to shut up," san groaned with a sour expression on his face. wooyoung stifled a laugh. what a unique friendship.

considering how the both of them were popular figures in the country, personally witnessing how they behaved was oddly entertaining for wooyoung. for the longest time he'd admired park seonghwa because of how he carried himself.

he seemed confident yet modest, and wooyoung assumed he would be a humble, work-driven and serious person in real life. as it turns out, all of his assumptions were wrong. he was playful and childish at times and he looked like he enjoyed getting on other people's nerves. not to mention, he was quite flirty and somewhat pretentious.

he was wrong about seonghwa, just like he had been wrong about san. san wasn't all that egoistic. if anything, he was modest and considered himself to be just like anybody else, unless he was provoked to do the opposite. he seemed to be a short-tempered person but for some reason, he always kept his cool around wooyoung. he was just cheeky for show; underneath all of it, he was a caring and humble person.

seonghwa's phone began to ring from behind and he answered it, and san let out a breath he had been holding. "i really didn't want him to come with us," he mumbled, rubbing his temples and steering the wheel with just his right hand. "i had other plans for the day, but we're gonna have to switch because he's here too." he said and lifted his gaze off the road to look at wooyoung. "have any ideas?"

wooyoung hummed to himself as he thought about places they could go. "how about a karaoke bar? there's one right by my studio. yeosang and i go there all the time," he responded and san nodded.

"we have to go on another show next sunday," seonghwa informed with distaste. "i really hate film promotion week."

"film promotion? what's that?" wooyoung asked curiously.

"it's these shows and interviews we go on after we're done filming," san said, stopping seonghwa before he could explain it himself. "we do it to promote the film."

"oh," wooyoung said in amusement. he'd always thought they did it for fun, or just because they were paid for it. the film industry was pretty smart with their marketing.

"hey, wooyoung," seonghwa began, leaning forward. "what's your favorite movie? we should all watch it together time."

"i don't really have a favorite. i either like it or i don't, you get me? i've never liked any movie enough to call it a favorite."

"oh, so you're that kind," seonghwa nodded understandingly. "then what's your favorite genre? i bet it's action."

wooyoung shook his head. "horror. i love horror," he revealed. "oh, i really liked your movie, hide and seek, i think. it was amazing. you were great." wooyoung commended him unmindfully, and seonghwa grinned pridefully at the flattery.

"i appreciate it. but our guy here, san, has never worked on a horror movie. right?" seonghwa said playfully, but it almost felt like mockery, as if he was trying to piss san off for some reason.

san clicked his tongue. "we're here," he said, sounding annoyed already. was it really that easy for anybody to irk him? he parked the car and seonghwa was the first to get down. wooyoung and san quickly followed suit.

"oh, nice!" seonghwa said joyfully, staring at the signboard for the karaoke bar. "it's been a long time since i had something to drink."

he jogged past the two of them and san watched him like a parent freeing their child at a toys r us, shaking his head. "he goes wild whenever he's near alcohol, so prepare yourself." san warned and wooyoung chuckled.

how bad could it be?

———

when san warned wooyoung against seonghwa's drunken manners, he'd forgotten to count himself along with it as well.

wooyoung, being the only sober person in the room, stared at the two boys as they sang to a bts song at the top of their lungs. wooyoung didn't really want a hangover to stop him from going to the annual carnival which was happening the very next day, so he held himself back from drinking too much.

since the two were enjoying their holidays after long months of filming, wooyoung thought a few drinks wouldn't be harmful. it wouldn't hurt anybody if they had some fun, either. he hadn't even noticed all the bottles of beer the two actors had consumed, and by the time wooyoung realized, the two of them had already swept past 10 bottles together.

he was at a loss of words as he stared at the two with his eyes widened. seonghwa was beating a tambourine in his hand, trying to match the beat as san sang along to the music. he did a good thing going into the acting industry with his looks instead of becoming an idol. even yeosang wasn't as tone deaf as he was.

who would've known two of the biggest celebrities in the country were this out of control and reckless? weren't they just being passive aggressive with each other just a few hours ago? wooyoung couldn't believe how stupid he had been for thinking that the two of them were these two mature, snobbish people at some point. they were really just point-blank stupid, especially choi san. he was the one with the car, for god's sake. how was he ever going to drive in this condition? besides, the last time he'd gotten this drunk, he fainted in wooyoung's arms. he was clearly a lightweight.

wooyoung helplessly watched on as seonghwa slung his arm around san and they jumped excitedly, slurring over their words and stumbling over their own feet. he dropped his face in his hands, completely giving up.

how was he ever going to get them back home?
