wooyoung was apprehensive, to say the least.

he walked behind san, nervously fiddling with his fingers behind his back. san was angry and wooyoung knew it; and for some reason, he kept it to himself, like he often did around wooyoung. but wooyoung could tell from the way he clenched his jaw during the drive there, and he did it with so much anger, the veins on the side of his forehead popped out.

"there's a lot of people here," hongjoong pointed out, guiding all of them ahead. the area was snowed with people, mostly couples and high school students, that walked around and occupied every available space there. wooyoung could only hope that this meant there were way too many people for anyone to pay attention to them, or the two celebrities they were smuggling. he could see a huge ferris wheel in the distance amidst all the rides, games, small stores and food stalls.

"are there any restaurants here? i had a light breakfast so i might get hungry soon." seonghwa spoke and wooyoung almost sighed at how disconnected celebrities were from reality. what kind of festival wouldn't have food?

"are you stupid?" san said to seonghwa, talking to him like he was an idiot. "what kind of question is that? of course there are."

it was the first thing san had said after a long moment of silence that started ever since they left the apartment, and wooyoung was taken aback. the only thing he'd open his mouth for was to be rude to his friends. wooyoung looked at him as soon as he was done speaking. he had his hands in his pockets and not in the usual, laid back way; it was almost like he didn't want to do anything with anyone, and wanted to maintain his distance. wooyoung knew it wasn't because he didn't like crowds, and he knew it was because of mirae. there was not really much he could do about it, though.

she was the furthest from san, walking next to yeosang on their right. the two were like the same poles of two different magnets being pressed against each other. they somehow always naturally maintained the maximum possible distance from each other. wooyoung looked down at his shoes, feeling dispirited. how was he supposed to enjoy this if he was going to spend the entire time wondering if san had calmed down?

wooyoung really disliked how soft and caring san was making him; he hadn't even noticed it until san blacked out from drinking too much. he didn't manage to get in much sleep that night because he kept jolting up from the sofa to see if san's condition was worsening like it tended to. wooyoung ran around the neighborhood at 3 in the morning, looking for a 24-hour pharmacy once a fever began to kick in and san's temperature went skyrocketing. he hated how much he worried about him, and how it came so naturally that wooyoung wasn't even aware of how he was acting until much later.

"there's going to be fireworks later in the evening and there's no way i'm missing that, so we have to find a way to spend all the time here somehow," mirae said before stopping in front of a medium sized merchandise store with lots of windows and not many people going in and out. "hey, how about we get some accessories? you know, like those cute high school girls," she said, pointing at a group of girls with funny animal headbands.
