hongjoong stared at the two celebrities that were knocked out on the sofas of the lounge with his jaw dropped.

in his defense, wooyoung really didn't know how else he'd get them back home. it was difficult to catch taxis in this area at a time like this, and he didn't know if ubers were safe for celebrities either. he tried calling yunho, but he had gone out for the day and was too far to come pick them up. the next best thing was to call the only other person he knew who had a car—hongjoong. wooyoung really didn't know if it was a careless decision but he had no other choice. he couldn't help but feel guilty. he'd been exposing san's location to most of the people he knew, against his will. wooyoung shoved his hands into his pockets awkwardly, hoping hongjoong wouldn't react badly.

"why are they..." he trailed off, unable to peel his eyes off the two.

"it's a long story," wooyoung said hastily, shifting on his feet. "can we talk about it later? i really need to get these two out before someone notices."

hongjoong was taken aback but complied nonetheless, probably having taken note of how desperate wooyoung looked. wooyoung scurried to fix the masks on their face and hongjoong took his own hoodie off, making seonghwa wear it. he pulled the hood over his head and drew the strings tight enough to make seonghwa look like a faceless potato sack. it was a funny sight, but this was really no time to laugh. san had fortunately come wearing a hoodie of his own and wooyoung fixed the hood for him as well.

"he's so fucking heavy," hongjoong complained, already panting as he tried to carry an unconscious seonghwa on his back. wooyoung lifted san, who was probably way heavier considering all the muscle on him, and wrapped san's arm around his shoulder. there was no way he would be able to carry someone like him.

"let's get out of here."

they struggled to support the weight of the two built actors and were getting weird looks left and right, but succeeded in bringing them out safely nonetheless. wooyoung leaned forward, hands on his knees as he panted, dropping san onto the ground in the process. he groaned and rolled on the ground for a moment before becoming unresponsive once more, and wooyoung just glared at his practically dead body. he should've been more attentive so things didn't get this bad.

hongjoong shoved seonghwa into the back of his car, holding the door open for wooyoung, who sighed exasperatedly before lifting san up once more and guiding him towards the door. he tossed him over seonghwa in an uncomfortable position and hongjoong slammed the door shut, dusting his hands. "you have a lot of explaining to do," he said, looking up at an exhausted wooyoung.

this was going to be a really long night.

———

hongjoong let out a long breath as he tried to process everything wooyoung had just told him. the poor guy had spent the entire drive back explaining the entire situation to him, and now they were back in wooyoung's apartment, seated at his dining table. they'd left seonghwa and san on wooyoung's bed where they were both still passed out.

"i mean i shouldn't be surprised because i've dealt with idols all my life, but these are solid, international celebrities..." hongjoong uttered, looking up at wooyoung curiously. "how didn't i know you were friends with people like them?"

wooyoung pursed his lips. he'd left out the part about him and san's peculiar relationship because he didn't know how hongjoong would take it. hongjoong was more protective and rational than yeosang, so he'd probably lecture him endlessly. "i'm sorry for keeping it a secret, but i would be putting san in a tough spot if i told everybody where he was. i hope you can understand."

hongjoong nodded. "don't worry, i'm not mad about it, just a bit surprised. that's all. and i'm honored to be able to see seonghwa's face up-close. he's more handsome than i thought."

wooyoung was relieved, to say the least. he took it better than yunho and yeosang as expected, and he didn't gush over them either. he kept things professional like he always did. after all, he'd dealt with some of the most popular idols in the country.

"so the person who barged into the studio that day was choi san, after all," hongjoong remembered out of the blue and wooyoung laughed awkwardly, feeling ashamed about having deceived everyone around him.

"but i was really planning on telling you the truth either way," wooyoung reasoned, "remember when i said i invited two more people to join us to the carnival? i was talking about them."

"well it's a good thing i figured it out earlier," hongjoong grinned. "i'm glad you trusted me enough to want to tell me about this."

wooyoung grinned back at him, feeling like a huge weight had been lifted off of him. now almost every person that was close to him knew of his secret, and he could only hope san wouldn't be upset about it when he woke up. he was the one who insisted on joining them to the carnival even though hongjoong was going as well, so he probably wouldn't mind it much.

his primary concern now was san's car—they'd left it behind at the bar. "how are we gonna bring his car back?" wooyoung groaned, pinching his nose. he thought celebrity's knew how to be careful enough not to make mistakes as bad as this in public. choi san was really a headache even when he was drunk.

"leave it to him," hongjoong advised nonchalantly, crossing his arms and leaning back against the chair. "he's the one that got you in a mess like this in the first place. he can figure the rest out on his own. but will the two of them be fine tomorrow at the carnival? it'd be really bad for them if they got noticed. there's going to be a crowd. a big one."

"if there's a lot of us together, people probably won't recognize them," wooyoung stated, apprehensive about the entire arrangement himself. "but that's just my assumption. we can only hope they don't let their guards down."

hongjoong nodded in agreement. "but seeing how they risked it today..." he said dubiously.

wooyoung sighed helplessly. though he was temporarily relieved, the problems he'd put off until then had been piling up one by one. he had to fix things with mirae, then, he had to worry about the carnival. to make things worse, he was taking not just one, but two celebrities with him. he couldn't even ask them to cancel, because san seemed like he really wanted to go. wooyoung didn't want to get his spirits down.

choi san was really just one big headache.
