it'd been a few days since san emptied his apartment.

wooyoung had silently hung onto the hope that he was just acting out, and that he'd come back once he was done. the hope was all he could cling onto, and the days went by slower than usual. though it'd felt like years had gone by, it was only a saturday. a gloomy, mundane, saturday evening.

he'd sent a single text to san on monday, and five days had passed without a response from him. at present, wooyoung was at the studio, even though it was the weekend. there was no other way for him to get his mind off of things, and dancing only slightly helped. he'd spent the entirety of his afternoon at the place, skipping his lunch. yeosang, yunho and mirae had shown up not long ago out of sheer concern.

"you really need to learn how to control your tongue," yunho adviced to wooyoung, who was drenched in sweat and lying down in yeosang's lap. "even though he's a celebrity, what you said was just rude."

"i hate to agree with him, but i agree with him," yeosang chimed in. he'd been petting wooyoung's hair for a while to comfort him. weirdly, it helped, but their words didn't. wooyoung knew it was all his fault. he didn't really need to hear it from other people. this was just his karma. "but did he really have to leave his apartment like that? he didn't even give you a chance to apologize."

yunho shook his head. "nah, i get him. if i were him, i wouldn't forgive woo, either. this isn't the first time he's crossing the line. i can't imagine the patience that man must have to hold out for this long," yunho sighed, amazed by san's willpower, before he looked down at wooyoung. "i know my words aren't making you feel better right now, but i hope you know that this is what you need to hear. we can't keep taking your side."

"i know," wooyoung muttered, staring at the ceiling. "throw whatever you have at me. i deserve it all."

mirae pursed her lips as she pitifully looked at wooyoung. "everything will work out, woo," she reassured, giving his shoulder a reassuring pat. "if you both truly love each other, then you'll find your way back to each other no matter what. so don't be so gloomy and depressed all the time. it hurts us to see you like this, too."

wooyoung found it strange how out of the three of them, mirae was the only one comforting him. he thought she'd be the worst of them all. he assumed she'd completely dump the blame on him and say, 'i told you so' over and over again before leaving him behind. but she didn't curse san, or wooyoung, or blame either of them. plus, she had feelings for him, but she was still trying to lift his spirits up by giving him some hope that he'd find his way to choi san once more. it was strange, but wooyoung didn't question it. she was the only one that made him feel somewhat better out of the three of them.

"this is kinda crazy to me," yeosang jumped in to the conversation, cutting off mirae's reassuring speech. "i mean, i've never seen wooyoung like a person so much to the point that he's all dejected and sad like this, not even in high school. i feel like this is a friendship milestone for us."

mirae smacked his arm. "can you be serious?! he's literally upset, and you're joking around at a time like this!" she yelled. "you know what? the both of you, get out. go get some food for us, or something. you're really not helping here, trust me. your company is much unappreciated."

"more than wooyoung, i think you're the one that needs to go to anger management," yeosang muttered under his breath and mirae glared at him. "okay, okay! we're going, we're going," he exclaimed defensively, scurrying out of the studio with yunho quickly following close behind him. she even glared at their backs as they left, and once they were gone, she dropped her shoulders and sighed.

she looked down at wooyoung, who was now sitting in the corner with his back against the giant mirror, staring straight ahead. mirae tucked her hair behind her ear before scooting over to where he was and sitting down next to him. "thanks," wooyoung said curtly, and mirae turned her head to face him.

"...they're right, you know," she spoke indistinctly, before joining wooyoung's gaze. "i was against it at first. but you know, choi san, that jerk, he really loves you."

"then he wouldn't have abandoned me like this, would he?"

"he didn't abandon you, woo," she chuckled. "and trust me when i tell you this. he's going to come back to you eventually, wooyoung. he loves you. he really, really does. more than i ever will."

she spoke about someone else's feelings with so much confidence that wooyoung was almost convinced she knew something.

"how would you know?" he breathed. wooyoung was certain san would never come back for him, especially after all the things he'd said. he would've done the same thing if he were in san's shoes.

"i could tell he loved you from the way he looked at you when i first saw him, but i wasn't really sure. my doubts were confirmed only when we went to the carnival," she said, facing wooyoung. "he let you win all the games at the arcade, and you should've seen the smile on his face when he saw you celebrate after winning. i could see it, even through the mask. he went with you on all those high and scary rides and rollercoasters with you because you wanted to go, even though we were hesitant. but woo, you didn't know, did you? even an anti-fan like me knows this about him. choi san has acrophobia," she paused to chuckle. "funny, right? he did all that for you. even at the restaurant, he took out all the carrots and cucumbers on your plate while you weren't paying attention. you don't like them, do you? i didn't know either, until he did that. he knows everything about you, but you didn't bother to learn anything about him, or what he wants."

her words were like knives to wooyoung's chest. wooyoung could feel a lump in his throat again. how had san picked up on all of that? wooyoung hadn't even mentioned his dislike for carrots or cucumbers to him before. how could san have done all that for him, only for it to go unnoticed by wooyoung? all it took was one google search, and wooyoung would've known many things about san a long time ago. he didn't even bother to do that, and now, a person like mirae who hates san's guts knows more about him than wooyoung. he thought she was here to comfort him, but for some reason, her words plummeted wooyoung further down into his state of hopelessness. he was consumed by guilt, and his heart felt heavy.

"i initially wanted to fight with him if it meant i could have you. but now i know, my love is nothing compared to how deeply he feels for you. he really loves you, wooyoung. he really does."

wooyoung was selfish, and now he knew that. all this time he stubbornly stuck to the belief that san was only with him to mess around. he acted like he was worried for san, for his career, but deep down, all he cared about was how this would affect him. he didn't even bother to pay attention to how all of this was already affecting san, the stuck-up celebrity that was for some reason, willing to throw his entire career away for someone like wooyoung. wooyoung had called him crazy for it before, but now he knew why he did that. it was love. choi san was truly in love with him. and wooyoung had abandoned him.

the realization made wooyoung's chest tighten, and a single teardrop rolled down his cheek. followed by another one, and another, and before wooyoung could wipe the tears away, they were uncontrollably streaming down his face. he'd really messed up.

mirae looked down at him, on the brink of tears at the sight of him as she pulled him closer, hugging him. wooyoung helplessly cried in her arms as she ran her hand down his hair over and over again, trying to calm him down, but it only made everything worse. because even after he'd abandoned and isolated san like this, wooyoung still had someone to confide in. but who did san have? he was all alone.

and it was all wooyoung's fault.
