I watch as his body drops to the floor, a heavy thud cascading around the room along with the clatter of the gun now lying against the stained floor.
My legs work before my brain can process my movements and within seconds I'm jumping over the now bloodied body that puddles the floor to kneel in front of Blaze as he stills in shock.
"Is-Is she?"
I don't even have to look again to answer him. I'd be even more shocked if she wasn't. "She is." I caress his face, his skin hot to the touch as I guide his head to my chest. "She's dead."
Footsteps drown out my thoughts and I turn back just as police officers enter the doorway taken back as I am at the scene.
Fallon's lifeless body sprawled across the floor amongst a puddle of her blood that grows by the second. It almost looks picturesque as it decorates the living room floor.
I quickly turn my attention back to Blaze as I feel his body fall into mine. A quiet sob escapes his lips as I wrap my arms around him leaving a trail of kisses to mix with his tears. My own tears threaten to escape, not because I'm sad but because of the rush of relief, that overcomes my body knowing Fallon won't be a problem anymore. Maybe that makes me a bad person but she didn't deserve the life that she lived.
Amber doesn't deserve the life she lived. She allowed this to happen and look at what her support for her daughter did. It got her killed.
I look forward, watching as the police approach Gale and Rhea. Their presence slipped my mind until now. Gale's arms are held tightly around Rhea as his eyes meet mine. A small smile forms on my lips to express my feelings.

I don't know what happened. One minute I was in my room holding the damn bunny for comfort and then the next I had a gun in my hand. The events leading up to it are scattered in my brain and nothing fits. I remember her in the room, she woke me, and then I was downstairs.
I can still feel the gun in my hands. I can hear the bullets, feel the kick as they leave the chamber. The only thing keeping me together is the body I cling to. Her warmth is like a blanket. I feel safe but even so the confirmation of Fallon being dead I can't believe it.
Everything around me is nonexistent as I put the pieces together. My scattered brain works slowly and I see it. Her body on mine as I wake up, the feel of her fingers as they touch my skin, her voice as she whispers in my ears the same sayings that rang in my head every day because of how imprinted they are in my brain.
"Blaze." I close my eyes as I listen to her voice, willing myself to put hers in place of the others. Replacing the bad memories with good ones but it's not enough and I don't know if it will ever be. "Blaze, look at me."
I finally open my eyes and look up basking in Blitz's warmth as she brushes her fingers across my face. My head jerks back on instinct and a flash of her enters my eyes but disappears just as fast. It's what Fallon did to me.
"Oh, god." Blitz goes to pull away. "I'm so sorry."
Quickly, I shake my head and place her hand back where it belongs. I'm not afraid of her touch but every little tap on my skin feels like Fallon's at first. The beginning of any contact is like a wave of her skin, like being violated by her all over again. It wrecks me but Blitz's touch is slowly replacing it. I can see her expression twist into fear when I flinch or get scared but I try not to let it affect me.
