August 23rd, 1991. 5:32 P.M.
The whole week leading up to homecoming was filled with preparations such as dress shopping, something that Vanessa and Lindsey hadn't really done before.
In Vanessa's bedroom, the pair got to work on their looks. Tonight was homecoming and they only had an hour to get ready before meeting everyone else downstairs.
"Getting ready for the night of nights!" sang Lindsey, dancing around the room with lipstick in her hand. She heads over to the vanity, and applies it to her puckered lip in the mirror.
Her dress was light blue and shimmered under the simple bedroom lights. Vanessa thought she looked stunning as per usual, but she couldn't help but feel downcast. Lindsey could sense her emotions, and tried to cheer her up by taking Vanessa by the hand and leading her to the mirror.
She raised Vanessa's silver dress up to her chest, and laid it, there was a sparkle in her eyes as she looked at her friend, finally wearing something fashionable. Vanessa had always felt so secure around Lindsey.
It would've been the warmth in her eyes or the way Lindsey made her feel like she was the only one who mattered.
"You look gorgeous." Lindsey purred, planting a glossy kiss upon Vanessa's cheek.
She brings a comb to Vanessa's hair, and begins combing it back.
"It will be fun. Trust me." she sighed, flattening her hair with her hands, "He'll think you're stunning."
As she breathed, Vanessa hoped she meant Daniel... and not Dallas. Vanessa smeared makeup on her face, which she barely knew how to do. Lindsey takes one look and smudges it all off with a tissue before reapplying it all correctly.
There was a swelling sensation in the pit of her stomach, causing Vanessa a great deal of sickness. She couldn't believe how nervous she was about all this.
