Vanessa's studies seemed to take a stark backseat to her current, blooming social life. This was weird, even for her, as she used to be addicted to receiving excellent grades but now it all seemed so... pointless.
She could get alright grades without trying, and could get into further studies pretty easily, yet it didn't seem to matter much anymore. She even began to doubt college.
Vanessa realised that she had turned a new leaf, suddenly wanting Daniel more than ever, she was willing to give up everything for him, even if it meant not going to college.
She was running late for class, having been caught up with Lindsey's scrunchie drama and detoured on her way to the vending machines for a sugar kick.
Vanessa slips a note into the machine, only to have it regurgitated back out. She slicks it down against her pants and tries again, then buttoned in the code when it worked. The machine made all sorts of mechanical noises before a loud thump at the bottom, she bends down and feels around for the can of soda.
"You should probably get a diet soda from now on." a voice frightened Vanessa, causing her to stumble against the railings that looked over the staircase.
The vending machines were located on a landing at the top of the stairs, and before the locker hall. She catches her breath, to see Rachael had appeared, and leaned against the machine on the end.
Vanessa scowls at her rude comment, preparing to quip back, "Do you have to be such a horrible b-"
Her voice is cut off by another scare, this time in the form of a strict teacher, who stood no more than five foot tall.
"Ladies, get back to class right now. You know you're not supposed to be at the vending machines during class time!" she snapped, pointing down the corridor.
"Sorry, miss." Vanessa apologised, looking down shamefully. She hated getting into trouble at school.
As the teacher scurried down the hall, Rachael doesn't let Vanessa leave, and shoves her violently into the wall, holding her against it. The hit knocked the wind out of Vanessa, momentarily stunning her. Rachael was stronger than she seemed, putting pressure on her collarbone as a weakened point.
