Vanessa was a mess. Not as flawless as she once tried so hard to be. She was spread out on the wrong end of her bed and beneath the sheets for days on end. It was a hurt like she had never experienced before that kept her sedated and unable to get up.

This was all in her childhood bedroom. It was only a year and a half ago that she slept there every night. Nothing had changed. Not the posters on the wall, the closet or the desk, but it still didn't feel like home to her.

Vanessa had read her old diary last night. All she wrote about back then was how mean her teachers were and how well she did on that last Chemistry test. All those things didn't matter until she found something that did.

She was brought to tears when she came up on the day that Lindsey and her had gotten those cheap, nasty mood rings. There was a stark difference between them back then and now. She wouldn't have believed how life would become, looking back.

She couldn't even believe she was back in this house with her parents again. Vanessa had her clothes ironed and maids waking her up. Her outlook on life was officially tainted when her own mother consoled her, "It's time you moved home with us. We only broke it off because we didn't think you wanted to come home, or that you would run away again."

Although unmoved as her mother came and went, Vanessa stared into space. She didn't know when or if she would get over this. She was utterly gutted with the news of Lindsey and Daniel but she should've known, she said to herself, it was blatantly obvious when she looked back. What she did know was that she had a lot to think about.

The talk around high school spread fast. Most of the time that's a bad thing, but when it's good, it's really good.

Daniel, Lindsey and Dallas had become a sort of trio, with Rachael out sick with the flu. Dallas was the third wheel, and guarded as Lindsey and Daniel heavily made out in various places around school.
