August 14th, 1991. 11:44 P.M.

It wasn't just banging, it was pounding... glass rattling. Vanessa was laying in bed, very close to sleep when it started.

So, she slid on her fuzzy slippers and shuffled through the barely visible apartment, before stepping onto the balcony. Dallas was a dead man, a very groggy Vanessa seethed. It was cold out, and she could feel the breeze under the slouchy shirt, that was four sizes too big but nonetheless comfortable to sleep in.

At that time of night, it was almost too dark to see a few feet in front of her. Dallas was a shade of blue at his window. She squinted her eyes fiercely, not for her vision but her declining mood.

"Nice pyjamas." he chirped as if it was twelve hours in the other direction and not reaching midnight.

"Go to hell." Vanessa grumbled, rubbing her eyes with the back of her wrist. Dallas could tell she was mad... but not as he knew it.

          "Grumpy, aren't we?"

He amusingly smirked. Dallas was so entertained by her aggression on more levels than one, while Vanessa was considering torture methods, and contemplating why she picked him for Lindsey in the first place.

"How is it that I have gotten less sleep knowing you, than I did with insomnia?!"

Dallas arched an eyebrow, "Well, I am utterly fascinating and you can't seem to keep from thinking about me."

She used all her remaining energy not to knock him out. Vanessa didn't have a clue how he could stay up all night long and still make it to school on time. She slopped on the edge of the balcony railing. Normally she would have weighed up the risk factors of such a dangerous position, but her feet ached too much to stand and she was over it.
