It was unbelievable. They had gotten away with it... but at what price?

Sooyeon and Wonho had been brought to their company CEO's and questioned, however, it seems they had both come to an agreement on a story beforehand, which seemed impossible since they hadn't contacted or seen each other since that day. Somehow they had convinced their companies with their story and thankfully the CEO's agreed to keep them in their groups on the condition they no longer hang out alone without a staff member.

Yeah, it's nice but the only reason they never considered them expendable was due to their rising popularity. Since the issue was gaining a lot of attention on the online portals, they were in the eye of the public so both companies wanted to monopolise on that.

In fact, Mode-L's company had announced a tour using the scandal as a spotlight for them. Of course, the girls were thrilled at the opportunity, Sooyeon thinking of it as a good thing since she could get away from Wonho for a while and take time to recover from the heartbreak. For Hyebin, she found herself slightly sad as she wanted to spend time with Changkyun. He'd proposed to her on New Year's Eve/Day yet they had barely seen each other since then. It was almost February now...

Seeing how fans had reacted towards Sooyeon and Wonho, she was worried. How could she ever marry Changkyun without repercussions, when they couldn't even handle a dating rumour? Some had found it funny as they'd assumed Changkyun and Hyebin would have got into a dating scandal rather than Wonho and Sooyeon since they'd been quite close. This seemed hopeful for Hyebin but there was no true way for anyone to be happily dating without criticism or loss of fans support.

An unfortunate side effect also happened to be sasaengs. Even though Sooyeon and Wonho had a solid cover story regarding her teaching him English since she lived abroad, so he could interact with his fans on their next world tour and in return he was teaching her Japanese for her group's Japanese debut. Sasaengs were still suspicious of this story though, wondering why Wonho hadn't chosen a member like Changkyun who could speak English or didn't believe that they could be just friends. Going to extremes, they even began to follow her around. Sooyeon had no time alone and it was affecting not only her but the group too.

Hyebin had to be careful at all times, opting to not see Changkyun also for the time being. It was suffocating knowing there were sasaengs around, not only Monsta X sasaengs but their own also. Not long ago Hyebin had almost been kidnapped, the trauma was still quite overwhelming for her, the girls' anxiety was going through the roof with each day. Any little incidents that happened made them suspect foul play. It was tedious.

Hoping to cheer up a depressed Sooyeon, Hyebin had reached out to contact Daeyeol via Mijoo since they were from the same company. The two had made plans to sneak him into their dorms so he can cheer her up since they were like siblings.

"Ah it's so cold still!" Daeyeol sighed as Hyebin pulled him into the dorms, Subin on watch by the stairs and Mirae behind the door, ready to snap it shut if needed. They felt like they were in a spy movie. "Are you guys James Bond?"

"We're better," Subin pretended to be overconfident, flipping her now short hair over her shoulder. "We're Sooyeon's Angels."

Surprisingly, Daeyeol seemed quite approachable and talkative compared to the last time they had seen him during the shooting of their reality show. Back then he was quite shy and didn't talk much. Debuting had changed him but it was a positive change as he seemed much more confident.

"Speaking of Sooyeon, how is she?" he asked, looking at them for an answer.

"She's held up in bed," Subin pursed her lips, a look of sympathy upon her face. "It's been a hard month."

"I'll go in first and make sure she's okay. You can come in after 5 minutes." Hyebin suggested, not wanting to throw Sooyeon into a room full of people instantly. "You can sit down over there next to Jiyeon and Youngji," She pointed over at the pair.

Jiyeon and Youngji had been sitting at the island (a type of kitchen table) eating dinner and listening in since they didn't know Daeyeol so they didn't know whether to butt in or not.

As Hyebin made her way outside Sooyeon's bedroom, she knocked lightly first, peeking her head around the door to see if Sooyeon was asleep. She wasn't. Her eyes were red and puffy again. It was so weird seeing Sooyeon so broken, she was always the strongest of them.

"Unnie," Hyebin tiptoed over, sitting on the edge of the bed as Sooyeon sat up, wrapping her arms around her knees.

"Yeah? What's up?" Sooyeon questioned, putting on a false smile for her.

"How are you doing today?" Hyebin asked, reaching out to place her hand over Sooyeon's.

"I don't think I have an answer to that question yet," Sooyeon truthfully replied with a sigh following shortly after.

"I can't cheer you up entirely but I hope you'll at least feel a little better after," Hyebin briefly hinted, getting up to open the door fully, signalling down the corridor for him to come in.

Instantly upon seeing Sooyeon's fragile form, Daeyeol's gaze softened, realising that she must have really been in a relationship with Wonho. Broken-hearted seemed to be written all over her. It was a miracle she had managed to maintain her image when doing activities.

"I brought snacks," Daeyeol raised a plastic back, shaking it to reveal many different snacks hidden within.

A shocked grin had spread across Sooyeon's face as she hasn't seen Daeyeol in around two months. She had missed having him around since he was like a brother figure to her, checking in on her, sending her messages of support and arguing over silly things.

Being surrounded by those she cared about, knowing they cared about her made her feel overall very comforted. It had been a hard month acting like everything was okay.

Maybe if Wonho had been a lowlife she would have been able to continue happily with no regrets but it felt as if she had lost the real deal. He felt like the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. Of course, they argued and bickered a lot but that was the charm. They felt free around each other and were able to act any way they wanted without a single care in the world.

"For me?" Sooyeon's voice cracked a little as she spoke up.

"Yeah, I wanted to check in on you and Hyebin was more than willing to help so I figured I'd sneak in with some snacks for you and the girls to have a movie night or just chat. I don't really know what girls do." Daeyeol shrugged, making them both laugh.

"I'll leave you two to talk for a bit," Hyebin decided to give them some privacy since maybe Sooyeon would be more likely to open up to someone different.

Exiting the room, Hyebin hoped that after Daeyeol's visit that maybe Sooyeon would find it a little easier to continue her daily life without feeling a void. Her energy as a whole just felt completely drained. The girls hadn't even known about the two but seeing how Sooyeon was, they must have been pretty close.

Before it would have been much more difficult for Hyebin to empathise with Sooyeon considering that she had never truly believed in a dream partner but once she had Changkyun by her side, she really couldn't imagine ever being without him again. Thinking about how she would feel, Hyebin knew there was nothing she could do to make it go away quicker but she at least hoped they could comfort her in any way possible through the tough time.
