Creeping down the stairs, Hyebin tried to avoid being too loud, though, judging by what Sooyeon had said, she was quite a heavy sleeper. Once downstairs, she glanced around, her eyes settling on the bookshelf.
Usually they were filler books and most likely in English but Hyebin wasn't too bothered about that. She could learn some new words by reading them and use this trip as a chance to put them to use. One thing she'd been worried about was her language skills. They'd been a bit rusty since she only used what she'd learnt from her days of schooling.
Interrupting the silence, there was an unexpected knock at the door. With widened eyes, Hyebin ventured over to the door, peeking out of the peephole to see someone familiar standing outside. Instantly her face lit up as she impatiently unlocked the door, swinging it open and jumping into his arms, surprising him as much as herself.
"Hey," he let out a hearty laugh, rubbing her back comfortingly. "Did you miss me that much?"
"I mean, that depends on your answer." Hyebin joked playfully, giggling as he began to walk without putting her down.
His hand reached out behind him, pushing the door to shut as he ventured over to the sofa, dropping the pair down.
"Agh, you're crushing me!" Hyebin whined, hearing him scoff in response. He wasn't crushing her entirely as she had felt one of his hands release her as it gripped onto the side, holding him up slightly to make sure he wouldn't hurt her.
"That's the weight of my love for you," His cheesy joke had made her face scrunch up.
"Stop-"
"I can't... And to answer your question earlier-" He paused for dramatic effect with a smug grin. "I missed you a lot."
Rolling over to the side, Changkyun lay beside her now, staring into her eyes lovingly as his smile refused to fall from his face. Being back near her had given him a dopamine rush. There was so much to catch up on and so much he wanted to do with her.
"Where's Sooyeon?" He asked, lifting his head and observing their surroundings for her.
"She's fast asleep." Hyebin replied. "Jet leg."
"Ah, yeah. The amount of planes I've been hopping on back-to-back is tiring." Changkyun sighed, dropping his head on her shoulder. "It's hard to sleep but you're my remedy. Do you remember when we filmed 'Seoul Searching' before and I fell asleep on your shoulder just like this?"
"It's kinda hard to forget when you confessed to me on national tv," Hyebin brought up, making him embarrassed.
"I couldn't help it. I lose my filter when I'm exhausted." He defended with a small laugh. "Not to mention the fact that I was like a love struck puppy every time I saw you. Actually, I have a question."
"What is it?" She frowned, glancing down at him.
"We both know I fell for you first... So when did you fall for me?" He knew his question could possibly hurt him if she answered it in a certain way but that didn't matter right now. He was curious. "What made you think that we should date properly?"
"I was on a variety show, it was after we did that filming at the beach for 'Seoul Searching' and you gave me the bracelet. The MC had asked me if there was a possibility of us ever ending up together because of our chemistry on the show. I was conflicted. For the first time in my life, I hesitated. It was a weird feeling." Hyebin explained. "I think that was the first moment I thought maybe I liked you more than I should have let myself."
Hyebin raised an eyebrow as Changkyun remained silent, staring at her with a weird expression she had never seen from him before.
"What?" She nervously laughed.
"I'm-" He squinted his eyes slightly as he tried to think of how to explain his feelings at this moment. "That's a lot sooner than I would have thought. We weren't even in a some then... What changed?
"What are you on about?" Hyebin chuckled, finding him to be slightly nonsensical. "
"What made you decide to date me instead of us being in a some?"
"Well you asked first," Hyebin joked, avoiding the answer first to tease him a litte.
"No I mean-"
"Fine," Hyebin cut him off. "If you want to know so bad... The truth is, if I didn't like you, I wouldn't have chosen to go on that trip with you to the beach. When I first agreed to have a fling with you, I regretted it. Not because of you but because I thought I acted rashly. I'd only known you for a few months. I felt like you were to good to be real so I thought you'd slip up eventually but you never did. In fact, the more time we spent together, the more surreal it felt. You walked me home, treated me as an equal, showed me your vulnerable side and... STOP GRINNING."
"What? I can't help it-" Changkyun cracked up as she swatted him away. "I'm being showered with compliments and you know I love it!"
"A praise kink..." Hyebin decided to get revenge on him by taking his words out of context, causing him to gasp.
"Excuse me?" He seemed to be completely in disbelief at her accusation.
"What's the matter? Did you need me to add good boy at the end?" She teased further as his jaw dropped once again.
"What's in the water here? Since when did you become so mean?" He joked.
"I'll have you know, we just got here so I haven't had a drop." Hyebin retorted, groaning as she lifted herself up and held her hand out to him. "Come with me."
"Where?" He frowned, reaching out for her hand as she pulled him up and led him outside the back garden, towards a swing set.
"Do you remember?" She asked, hoping he would.
"Mhm," He smiled, sitting down and resting his arm over the back of the seat behind Hyebin as the pair swung lightly backwards and forward. "It's a step up from the park, right?"
"Definitely." Hyebin chuckled, cuddling up to him. " I hope it gets colder later. Maybe we can pull out a blanket and sit out here... Maybe you could even read me a book in English."
"I'd like that," He agreed, looking down at her and pressing his lips to her forehead. "I haven't got a schedule till tomorrow so... maybe I could even sleep over here with you."
"Maybe," Hyebin teased. "We'll have to see how dinner goes with Sooyeon first. How do you feel about Tamales?"
