Glancing around wearily, Hyebin still felt on edge being in a public space with Changkyun, who could easily tell she was very nervous about being seen by anyone. Reaching out to grab onto her wrist lightly, gaining her attention, he gave her a reassuring nod and smile.
"Don't worry. This place is used by conglomerates, famous actors and CEO's. It's a strictly private restaurant. The staff are under contract, they sign NDA's." Changkyun explained. "Your only worry is that the other customers don't speak but they can't see us since we have our own booth."
"Really?" Hyebin bit her lower lip nervously, zoning out momentarily before looking back up at him.
"Yeah, I promise." His hand moved from her wrist to hold onto her hand, rubbing it soothingly. "One of my friends visits here with his girlfriend a lot. He's from a big idol group but nothing has been revealed so far so I think this place is pretty good."
"Okay," Hyebin put on a smile, trying to calm her nerves by using her free hand to take a sip of the glass of wine in front of her.
Deciding to change to topic to ease her up, Changkyun began to speak once again.
"How are the preparations for the new album coming along?" He asked, leaning closer in interest.
"It's been hectic. They're rushing to get it out so they can cash off it quickly." Hyebin explained with a sigh. "The title track is stronger this time around so I think it'll be a win this time, especially if no other popular groups comeback around the same time."
"Hopefully you'll get your first win finally..." Changkyun cheered her on with a bright smile, making her smile back. "What about your track by the way? You know the one you asked me about..."
"Oh that-" Hyebin paused briefly as she thought about it. "Well, I submitted it like you said and they took it. The company offered me payment, it was a little less than what you suggested but that's okay since it's my first produced track. I had to do a lot of paperwork for the crediting and the KOMCA thing you mentioned. It's a lot... you're really an impressive guy."
"Ah I'm not," He refused shyly, enjoying the compliment. "Well, maybe a little."
Both laughed at his modest approach, pulling apart as he server approached with their food.
"Thank you," Hyebin mumbled, keeping her head slightly tilted away so her hair would cover her face well enough to mask her identity.
"Thank you," Changkyun thanked the server too, preparing to pray before he began to eat.
The pair enjoyed their meal in a comfortable silence, occasionally making small talk whenever something popped into mind, however, they were mainly too invested in the meal as it tasted like the most delicious thing in the world after a long day of schedules and not being able to eat much due to those schedules.
"-and so he said he's willing to come with me since you're 'fun hyung' and he misses you," Hyebin explained, raising an eyebrow. "Personally, I'm a bit offended that my brother loves you more than me but whatever."
"It's not my fault I'm such a great person," Changkyun cockily expressed, earning a playful glare from Hyebin.
"Whatever you say," she smiled, thought it faded almost immediately once she released that she was going to be sick again.
She'd tried so hard all day to put up with it, pretending to be okay. It was too soon right now, she just wanted to enjoy the rest of her night with Changkyun but it was becoming more difficult, especially after the wine. Her immune system was always quite good so she would only get sick once a year but when she was sick, it was lethal. Three weeks straight of sore throats, vomitting or sneezing. It was hell on earth.
Immediately she shot up, excusing herself and faking a smile before hurrying to the bathroom and into the nearest cubicle where she began to throw up violently without time to lock the door. After the first round, her body limply fell to the floor as she ripped tissue from the dispenser, using it to wipe her mouth shakily and gulping to try an prevent any more sick from coming up. It felt so painful, gasping for air while throwing up.
"Ah, I want to go home." Hyebin whispered weekly, trying to calm herself down. "Why do I have to be sick now?"
After a few minutes of silently sitting on the floor, she pulled herself up and flushed the chain, tossing the tissue in the bin beside the toilet and hurrying out. Staring at herself in the mirror, she seemed much paler than usual that it seemed almost obvious she was ill under the bathroom lighting. Cupping her hands under the tap, she drank the water out of her palms, gargling it before spitting it out then proceeding to wash her hands with the soap, the presence of another beside her causing her to jump suddenly.
"Ah sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." The woman apologized, observing Hyebin briefly.
"No, you didn't." Hyebin lied, feeling bad about her actions.
Looking over at the woman, Hyebin noticed she was standing in the corner now, reading a box and seeming to be deep in her thoughts.
"Have a nice night," Hyebin spoke up, throwing away another tissue she'd used to wipe her hands dry.
"Wait-"
Hyebin came to a stand still as the woman called out for her, causing her to turn around cautiously, wondering if she'd been noticed.
"I-" She looked down at the box then held it out to Hyebin. "I think you'll need this more than me right now."
Hyebin reluctantly took it from her grip, staring at it then back up at the woman,
"I-"
"I don't want to know." The woman briefly explained her reason for not using it. "You sounded like you might need it more than me right now."
Gulping, Hyebin accepted it, turning to head back into the cubicle. By this point she was filled with dread. As the results showed up, that dread turned to fear. Stepping out of the cubicle finally, she noticed the woman had left.
Just like the woman, Hyebin decided it was time to go too. What she'd considered to be a cold or some form of food poisoning had turned out to be the worst possible situation for her right now. She wasn't in the position to accept the fact...
The fact being that she was pregnant with Changkyun's child.
