Chapter 37

After the ceremony, they'd all celebrated with some snacks, drinks, and light music for a while before clearing out of the venue a few hours later and heading for a nice celebratory meal, which eventually led to a few of the adults getting a bit too drunk. Before they knew it, it was the 13th and evening was already among them. Today, Monsta X was put back to schedule all day long and were set to perform at the Jingle Ball in a few hours. 

As a small surprise, Hyebin, her brother, and her members had brought tickets to go watch the performance and support the group, meanwhile, their parents had decided to spend the night together exploring NYC and getting a meal. Dongwook, Hyebin's younger brother, seemed slightly more excited than everyone else due to his constantly expanding fondness of Changkyun, evident by his overuse of hyung and continuous gushing over him.

Unfortunately, Changkyun's brother could not make it to the USA for the wedding so Hyebin tried her best to involve him in things by sending videos, pictures and even video chatting him during the Jingle Ball performance so he could watch and join in on the event with them. At first it was a bit awkward to suddenly start messaging him out of the blue, though, after a day or two it had become more like a daily routine while they were in New York to update him. Unlike the first time they met in person, he seemed to be easier to talk to over messages thankfully.

In all honesty, it took her a little while to get used to his family as they were quite introverted and incredibly intelligent, no doubt passed on from their father but soon enough, she'd learned how to handle them. Before she knew it, they'd all peeled back layers of themselves and turned out to be quite loving. Perhaps it had been her nerves at the beginning that made her feel on edge. Now, they were genuinely a second family, embracing her and her family into their own.

Comfortable. Right now, she felt at ease with her life. Standing in the crowd anonymously with her members... her close friends, her brother and filming her newly wedded husband to show his brother, she was confident for once in her life. Each day that came and passed over the past 2 years had built her up to the strongest she had ever been. She was confident in her body regardless of it's faults, her mind that matured with each task she overcame, her career which had seen a successful two years and love - both in friendship and her romantic relationship - which continued to flourish.

Perhaps she was slightly deluded while being in fangirl mode, however, at one point during the performance, she could have sworn Changkyun had spotted her in the crowd. Maybe the honeymoon phase was in full effect but even something as small as that moment had caused her heart to race just as it had the moment they first met. From tripping over while merely crossing paths one day, their path was now intertwined for what she hoped would be an eternity. 

At the end of the day, they didn't need much. It was pointless to worry about schedules and not being able to see each other as much as other couples because the bond they had was strong enough to rekindle in a second no matter how much time passed.

After many great performances, the night came to an end and everyone had begun to disperse, emptying the area. As cheesy as it may be, Hyebin could not wait to get back to her hotel room and see Changkyun. Everything had gone by in a blur with their trip coming to an end. If there was one thing she wanted to do before heading back to South Korea, it was to get back to the hotel, dive under the covers and cuddle up all night, having their usual cuddle conversations. It may not seem like much to others but to them, it was their happy place, whether it was petty arguments over trivial matters, funny conversations about what happened during their day or imagining a future together.

Suddenly it hit her. They were really a married couple now. What had once been a joke about them acting like one, was now a reality. Her reality...
