New years day, a threat to all dating idols and their careers. Fortunately, Changkyun and Hyebin were a step ahead. It was the one-year anniversary of their engagement proposal. Though it was risky, they both felt stable enough with their careers to announce it. With the help of their agencies, they confessed to being in a relationship and asked to go public before a big source like Dispatch could reveal it.
Upon hearing the words Dispatch, both sides seemed less hesitant to reveal it. Once Dispatch employees had started visiting the companies and exposing any proof they had of artists within the company who were in relationships and were possibilities to be revealed in the New Year, the companies had agreed to let them release their dating news on the condition that they did not show their relationship publicly through social media's by sharing pictures or getting caught in public as it could upset the fans too much, causing them to lose fans of the group. Of course, that meant a loss of money for the company so it made sense why it was their condition.
Neither Changkyun nor Hyebin cared too much about the condition since they didn't have any kind of urge to share too much about their private lives in general. It was a done deal. Now all that was left was a waiting game. Who would release the news first? Dispatch or their company's PR teams...
Finally! Refreshing the page, Hyebin let out a gasp, glancing over at Changkyun who sat beside her, eyes widened at her sudden actions.
"What? Is it out?" He leaned over, peeking at her phone screen.
Both release a breath of relief as they see the article was released through a journalist with the agency's PR team statements. Annoyingly, they couldn't write their own statements but reading through what had been released, it wasn't completely awful thankfully so they felt at ease.
"So that's it..." Hyebin trailed off, seeming amazed. Turning her attention to Changkyun, a huge grin made its way on both of their faces as they processed what was happening. "We're officially a public couple."
"Now you're stuck with me," He joked, becoming clingy as he threw his arms around her and tossed her phone over the other side of the bed.
"Hey-"
"Stop reading the comments... I can see you scrolling." Changkyun responded, bopping her nose playfully. "It'll only stress you out."
"I'm just curious," she attempted to defend herself, wrapping her arms around him as he buried his face into her upper torso.
"You smell nice," he added, inhaling the sweet yet subtle smell of perfume that lingered from her t-shirt.
"Don't smell me, weirdo." Hyebin laughed, trying to pry him away however it was to no use as he was too strong, refusing to let her go.
Giving up, she started to stroke his head, playing with his hair silently until he finally spoke up once again.
"Are you braiding my hair again?" He asked, lifting his head and messing up where she had left off, leading her to scold him.
"Can't we just check one-"
"Why?" He asked, giving her an odd look.
"Shouldn't we at least make sure nobody has created any rumors? We may have sorted it out with Haewon but the other girls were still quite..." Hyebin sighed, wondering how to express it without bringing back the emotions she had felt back then.
Though vague, Changkyun had instantly understood what Hyebin meant. His sasaeng fans that knew of their relationships had negative responses and conned her into believing she was pregnant just to break them up. With their relationship being public knowledge, it could have pushed them to create more rumors and spread them online.
"Let's make a deal then," he suggested, giving in to her request. "If you let me check it first, I'll let you know how the response is."
Hesitantly, Hyebin nodded accepting the deal and observing Changkyun's every move and facial expression.
"Is it bad? Are we done for?" She finally spoke up again, not being able to take it any longer.
"Surprisingly no. Dispatch released another couple..."
"What? Are they big?" She interrogated, wanting to know more about where they stand.
"It's Twice Jihyo and Kang Daniel-"
"No way!" Hyebin gasped in shock. It was definitely more shocking than their own dating news as the two had connections and interactions but Jihyo and Daniel were something never really expected.
"Now you can relax..." Changkyun turned his attention back to her, pulling her into his arms for another hug. "Maybe we can even start going on dates more loosely now. No more worrying."
"Won't it upset the fans?" She worriedly responded, earning a scoff from Changkyun.
"We're publicly dating. It's not like we're gonna rub it in their faces. I just want us to be able to go places in public and do things other couples do without worrying." He stressed. "We've been sneaking around in hotel rooms just to hang out but now we've got so many options. We no longer have to hide."
"Well... where did you wanna go first then?" Hyebin decided to change her attitude and bask in the freedom of it all. This was their chance to date like a normal couple. "Wanna get burgers?"
"Do I?" Changkyun passionately responded, jumping up from the bed and offering his arms out to her so she could get up. "Let's go get those damn burgers!"
