The more time she'd spent avoiding Changkyun, the more she began to realise just how childish her actions were. It was completely irresponsible of her to act in such a way and hurtful. She couldn't imagine how hurt Changkyun must have been by her to the point where he'd made someone else pass her belongings on to her rather than asking her to meet up to collect them.
She was right. Changkyun was becoming impatient while waiting around for her to speak to him finally. Rightfully so, he was upset that she wouldn't talk to him as he loved her so much and with each day that passed by, the more he considered how nice it would be to be a father and start a family with Hyebin but he knew that she wasn't ready and he wasn't sure whether he was ready to give up his career either. Everything he'd worked for... Everything he'd put up with...
Finally, Hyebin had decided to reach out to him, sending him a message to meet her somewhere private. Immediately, as if he'd been waiting by the phone 24/7 for her messages, he responded despite it being quite late at night, suggesting they meet at his friend Jason's studio.
Hyebin admittedly felt more nervous about the fact that after all they'd done in Jason's studio, they were allowed to meet up there again rather than the fact that she and Changkyun were going to have a serious talk about the situation.
Shoving on a pair of jogging bottoms, a top and a hoodie jacket, Hyebin decided on a neutral outfit so she wouldn't draw any attention when heading to meet Changkyun, with her trusty bucket hat and mask pulled on before she even considered leaving the dorms.
It was quite a long walk but Hyebin didn't mind since she needed to clear her head properly and take in some fresh air to distract her. Usually she'd put her earphones on, wanting to drown out her intrusive thoughts but today, she'd decided against music. There was no way to plan what would be said but Hyebin at least wanted to gather what she'd say in her mind, ready for when they'd come face to face. Somehow, the thought of being face to face had filled her with anxiety rather than the usual butterflies.
Eventually coming to the alleyway, Hyebin pushed open the door to hear a small bell ring out, gaining the attention of Jason, who seemed a little too chipper for Hyebin to deal with tonight. Even the thought of mustering up a smile made left her with a sense of dread.
"You can head in," Jason called out, avoiding making small talk as he'd noticed the pair had came in separately, both looking dejected.
Not being able to find the strength to reply, Hyebin nodded slowly and dragged herself over to the familiar door, her hand reaching down and remaining on the handle for a few seconds as she took a deep breath before venturing any further.
"Hey," Changkyun seemed noticeably awkward, his fingers fidgeting as he leaned back against the wall. "Come, sit..."
Without a single word leaving her mouth, she headed over to the seat and sat down as Changkyun pulled up a seat opposite her. It felt weird seeing him lacking confidence. They were both acting nothing like their usual selves. The overall ambiance was tense unlike the previous times they'd met.
"How have you been?" He attempted to lighten the atmosphere with some small talk but immediately he regretted it, cursing to himself as he raised his hand to cover his eyes, a sudden warmth on his hand caused him to move his hand so he could see.
Hyebin was reaching out to touch his hand, staring at him with a guilty expression, though he didn't care much about the guilty look as much as he cared about the gesture. Despite it being something small, it showed him that she was reaching back out to him too finally.
"Kyunnie," his heart pounded hearing her refer to him by his nickname. He missed it... so much. "I'm sorry. I've been a terrible person. I was so caught up in my own emotions that I didn't stop to think about yours. The way you found out... It wasn't right."
"I understand," He mumbled, nodding as he pondered over what he should say next. There was so much left unspoken. Now was the time. "H-How long have you known?"
"Not long." Hyebin answered truthfully, her head turning quickly to glance over at Changkyun's hand, which had now intertwined with hers. She gulped. "I found out that night too. I was sick that day so I went to the bathroom and took the test."
"I- I'm not even sure how this all happened." Changkyun began, still stuttering due to how nervous he was. "I mean we used protection..."
"Not necessarily." Hyebin thought back to the various times. "The shower at my parents, the hotel room and you know..." Hyebin glanced back at the door before whispering, "Here."
"Oh," Changkyun paused as he tried to recall the times too. "I mean, i didn't know that it would happen then."
"But it did," Hyebin sighed. "And we should have been more careful."
"Do you regret it?" The look in his eyes... It was painful for her to know she'd caused this. "Us?"
"I don't," She responded, giving his hand a small squeeze of reassurance and mustering up a smile. "I've been happy, happier than I thought I would have been. I didn't plan to fall in love, nor did I plan for this to happen but if there's anything that I've learnt over the past year, it's that things will work out. I'm not the type to plan but I worry without a backup but when I'm with you, there is no backup. I'm happy not knowing what's ahead of us because you're by my side. It's a euphoric feeling."
"Ah," Changkyun looked up momentarily, Hyebin let out a small laugh as she noticed him tearing up.
"Are you crying?" Hyebin asked, smiling as she watched him failing to hide his emotions.
"What- No," He lied, a smile tugging at his lips as he noticed her expression. "Don't laugh."
"I'm sorry," She tried to suppress the urge to smile and failed. "It's just that you're so cute."
"No you," he deflected, finally being able to face her again.
A silence fell upon them.
"I'm scared..." Hyebin admitted, causing Changkyun to move closer and pull her into a hug.
"I know," he mused, allowing himself to open up. "I'm scared too. We'll figure this out together. I promise you, you'll never have to go through this alone."
"I love you Kyun," Hyebin mumbled as tears pricked at her eyes, feeling emotional due to the support of Changkyun
"I love you more," He replied with a smile.
He didn't want to let go of her. Neither did she. Both were desperate for time to stop so they could remain in this moment for eternity. The warmth of being in each others embrace, not having to worry about anything else at that moment in time... It was nice. She'd missed him so much.
