Third Person POV

The two were in the bathroom.

"Shh...shh...it's okay, it's okay."

 Sitting on the tiled floor, one boy tried desperately to stop the tears leaking out of his eyes, and the other tried just as hard to help his love stop crying.

"It'll be alright. You're loved, you're valued, it's gonna be okay."

Soothing whispers and hugging was the only thing Kai could think of at the moment.

"It's just thoughts. It's never gonna happen, everything will be fine."

And even though it took a while, it worked.

 Eventually, Lloyd's breaths were stable enough for him to breathe evenly and he backed away from the latter's chest.

He leaned back on the wall as Kai did the same.

They sat in silence for a while.

 Kai's known him for long enough to know that he doesn't like to talk after something like this. Breakdowns happened a lot when they were in high school, but in college, it's still just as worrying whenever Lloyd bursts into tears or begins shaking profusely. Of course he'd be ready to eventually..he always is, at least with him. Although that amount of time has never been pinned, something Kai notices as he tries to find the right words to say.

"Uh...do you feel any better?" After years of helping him, he expected to come up with a better thing to say.

After a few seconds, Lloyd nodded. "Yeah...a-a lot actually, thanks."

Kai tilted his head and tried to give a reassuring smile. "You don't have to thank me, Lloyd."

"No, I- I want to though." he insisted. Lloyd wiped his drying face with one hand and made gestures with his other as he kept talking. "You don't..you don't have to deal with me when I'm like this."

"I don't have to..." Kai pulled him closer, "..but don't you feel better if I help?"

"...I just don't wanna bother you." he muttered, already tearing up again. "Like... I mean, o-overthinking isn't a reason for you to baby me like this."

"Overthinking to the point of crying is."

He stayed quiet.

 Kai moved himself so he was on his knees in front of Lloyd, holding his puffy-cheeked face in his hands. They locked eyes.

He took a breath...

"...look, these breakdowns you have don't define you, but that doesn't mean you can't reach out to me, or anyone, for help when things get too bad. You're in a fully safe place now...nobody's going to hurt you, and the others certainly won't judge you."
