Sacred Flame - comfort

Third Person POV

Kai opened the door to his shared bedroom, where his lover sits at the foot of said bed playing a video game. The creaking of said door was enough to alert Lloyd that his boyfriend got back, so he walked over to him for a hug. "Hey there baby!" he grinned. Kai did his best to put a smile on his face as he hugged back. "It's been so long!"

"Only a few hours."

"My argument still stands."

"..'argument'?"

"Yes." Lloyd tried to sound serious, but the context of the situation was enough to make Kai begin to laugh. The blonde's face reddened at the sight, so he simply walked back to the bed, masking his own blush quite well.

Though the laugh was short-lived. the brunette had other things on his mind. Kai lay down behind Lloyd and wrapped his arms around the blonde's waist.

"Something wrong?" A hint of worry was in said blonde's voice. Not a word came from the brunette as the latter continued playing. "C'mon, you can tell me." he joked as he paused the game. Turning around slightly, he looked at Kai with a smile.

"I-I was just wondering..."

Lloyd's grin faltered as his lover continued to speak.

"Am I..a b-bad person?"

The blonde's controller fell to the ground with a soft thud. He did his best to steady his voice and look at Kai with a sympathetic expression. "Of course not...what do you mean, Kitty?"

Kai sat up and looked him in the eyes."I just...you know what- nevermind-"

"Hey." Lloyd quickly grabbed his face with both hands and forced his love to look back at him. "You aren't a bad person, okay? Can you repeat that?"

Kai opened his mouth to speak, but quickly closed it back and shook his head. "...sorry."

Sighing, Lloyd sat back on the headboard and brought Kai up to his chest. The brunt relaxed immediately on impact and nuzzled in closer to his neck. Though the blonde could see that his wouldn't help anything. He's had breakdowns before sure, but none were this bad.

Suddenly Lloyd remembered something he tried doing before when Kai was upset. Though he snapped the first time it was offered, he did come around in the end. It proved to be very effective, so it should certainly work now. He took a deep breath, and finally asked-no, demanded;

"Cry on me."

"W-What?" Kai looked at the blonde, although his expression seemed more worried than anything. Like he felt he'd be judged if he teared up now. Lloyd continued;

"I want you to cry on me. You always stay happy, but I've never seen you cry lately. I know how hard it gets to keep your feelings hidden, trust me. Since we're in a relationship together, I don't want you to feel the need to hide things from me."

Kai was about to object again when Lloyd pulled him closer and whispered; "It's okay."

He couldn't bring himself to speak then.

It was only two words that he had said, but they meant so much. He started to whimper as Lloyd tenderly stroked his hair. Kai tried his damnedest not to cry, but he couldn't stop himself when a single tear streamed down his face.

One tear became two, then three, and soon enough he was full-on bawling. tears leaked out of his eyes onto the blonde's shirt. Small noises escaped his lips which to Kai sounded pathetic. He attempted to make an excuse for the petty noises, but even more pitiful sounds came out when he spoke.

"I-I just- I can't-"

"It's not your fault, Kai," Lloyd soothed. "It's gonna be okay."

While the blonde continued mumbling sweet nothings to his lover as he continued crying, Kai began to feel something he hadn't in a long time.

Kai rarely ever cries, the only exceptions being when Lloyd or Nya get him to. He always thought that when they cried it was okay, but when he let his emotions out, he'd be seen as weak.

And yet here; he felt relieved. Kai now knew that he could let out everything he was feeling. And he wouldn't be judged.

Kai stared up into Lloyd's eyes and chocked out a quiet; "I-I love you." before burrowing his head into Lloyd's neck once more. "Love you too, sweetheart." the blonde whispered back.

'It's nice to cry every once in a while...'

Kai woke up in the same position he fell asleep in, though he didn't notice he even fell asleep until now. How many hours did he even cry for? Eh, it doesn't matter anymore. Either way, they slept long enough for the sun to currently be shining through the window, creating a beautiful sight of his lover.

He began to get drowsy once more, feeling protected and safe in Lloyd's arms. 'I really don't deserve you...' Tearing up at the thought, Kai slowly went back to sleep as he kissed the latter's neck.

However this time when he cried, they were-without a doubt-happy tears.
