Uh hi- I tried to make a thirty day challenge but I only got this done- sorry for disappointing you all so much but I've got something big to show you at the end of the year- I swear it's actually really cool
Third Person POV
Kai sat on the bed, with his back on the record-filled wall and his eyes glued to his cell phone.
Lloyd was nearby, sitting on the floor right next to the bed, nose deep in a fantasy novel. With a giant wall-length window in the front of the blonde's room, it's just enough daylight for the both of them to see.
Yes, there was a desk, right in front of said window, which would have brought in more light. But Kai doesn't like how the light hits his phone and Lloyd doesn't like chairs.
Maybe half an hour had passed before they talked again.
It was a quiet morning, finally without the stress of the past school week, and one of the only times the new couple could be alone.
As Kai flipped through his friends' social media pages, his phone battery slowly drained. Before he knew it, the screen went black.
"Lloyd," he asked, partly upset that he tore his boyfriend away from his book, "Can I borrow your charger?"
Lloyd perked up but still took a few moments to respond. Nothing comes between his books, at least until he finishes a page.
"..yeah, hold on," he read the last few sentences and closed the book before shifting his attention. His eyes went to the cords on his floor.
As he tried to untangle them- with one hand to give himself a challenge- the other was planted on the edge of the bed, close to Kai's.
He never realized how soft Lloyd's hands looked, but then again, he hasn't held them in a while...or ever, now that he thinks about it.
They've never done anything that intimate.
But why?
At school, Kai can understand it. Pretty much everyone there is homophobic, and he's gotten into many fights about his sexuality before. But why can't they act normally when they're alone?
Kai tried to shake off the concerns. 'It shouldn't bother me this much,' he thought. 'He probably has a reason not to, right?'
His mind didn't go elsewhere so easily though, and before he knew it his hand was trailing down the length of the bed.
It might be wrong, but he couldn't think about much else. Damn his strange attention span.
As soon as their hands touched, Lloyd froze.
Kai was at a loss for words, but he could feel the latter's hand shaking underneath his.
"N-Nobody's looking," he blurted out, saying whatever he could think of to help, "Nobody's judging- nobody's watching. It's just us. It's alright."
He could tell Lloyd listened, after a few moments of controlled breathing, the shaking stopped. But even then, the silence was suffocating. Had Kai made the right move?
The blonde didn't speak for a while, but after a few minutes, he moved his other hand away from the cables on the floor and on top of Kai's.
He turned to face him, only to reveal that face was tinted red.
Kai spoke, a soft smile spreading across his face. "...your hands are really soft."
Lloyd's eyes went wide, but he tried to ignore his face heating up. "S-So are yours,"
Kai chuckled, "We should hold hands more often,"
They locked eyes. Both boys were blushing madly and grinning like idiots.
"...yeah." the latter breathed out.
Their hearts skipped a few beats, but now neither of them worried. It felt nice.
"Lloyd?" Misako's calling from dowm the hall ended the tesntion fast.
"Uh- I'll be there in a sec!" The blonde yelled back, rushing to the door once he freed his hands.
Kai stood up just as fast- ignoring his phone dropping to the floor- and stopped him just before he got to the door, grabbing his hand once more.
"Hey,"
Lloyd cocked his head back and the brunette froze. Maybe this would be too far to say, but he can't deny what he felt.
Kai didn't want the moment to end, so he took a breath and said what he'd been meaning to for weeks, "..I love you."
Lloyd's eyes widened again, but the smile came back even faster. He finally heard those words from somebody he cared about. Part of him was always nervous about maming first moves, so today was just one happy thing after another.
He beamed and let out a soft, "Love you too," with the most loving wink to follow.
He squeezed his hand one more time before racing out the door.
As soon as the latter left the doorway, Kai fell back onto the bed, lovestruck.
'Love you too.'
It was a quick phrase, but one that meant so much.Part of him thinks he shouldn't be affected by three words that much. But he keeps on smiling, thinking about how lucky he is to be with such an adorable boy.
Kai ended up staying late that night, with his phone dead and no concept of time while hanging out with his boyfriend. And Lloyd didn't stop him, but unfortunately Misako had to drive him home eventually.
But he kept those words in the back of his mind all night.
Lloyd's finally comfortable loving him, and that's something he wouldn't trade for anything.
