The next morning, you wore a light layer of makeup. You also wore a simple yet figure-outlining shirt and a pair of your favorite jeans. You made sure to style your hair and to take one hard look at yourself in the mirror.

Your ego sank miserably. It all looked fake. Everything about you screamed 'I'm trying too hard!' or 'I'm jealous!'. You wanted to rub the makeup off your face and change into a simple hoodie and jeans outfit.

But you didn't.

You held your head high and ignored anything your head tried to tell you. You were your own worst enemy, and if you were going to be confident then you needed to erase that enemy.

But how could you erase something that was a part of you? How could you erase the one thing stopping you from getting too confident?? How could you erase the one thing that humbled you??

And mocked you. And belittled you. And hated you.

You hated yourself more than anyone else could hate you.

Stop!!

You exhaled. You looked....pretty.

You left your mirror and walked out of your house. If you were far away from your house, then you couldn't ruin the effort you put into your appearance, right?

You made sure the door was shut behind you before looking at Jackson's house. He stumbled off of his porch before running to you. He stopped before he could reach you and stared.

"Holy sh-(Y/N)!!" He barked. "Wow!! I can't-you-agh!"

You giggled at his blushing grin. He smiled like an idiot and covered his face before staring at you once more.

"You look-just-wow!!"

"Come on, Jackson. We can't be late." You giggled again.

He jogged to you and stared even harder. "You sure you wanna be seen with me?"

"Come on, Jackson." You chuckled. "We have to go to school."

He smiled widely and linked arms with you. You laughed along with him, your mood changing drastically thanks to Jackson's enthusiasm over you. You didn't strive for male attention, but when it came from Jackson you couldn't help but get a little happy.

Lagoona stared at your giggling form from behind. Her luck must've really been gone, because right as she was dead set on ignoring you, she ends up right behind you.

Sure, she could switch to the other sidewalk or just walk around you two. But she didn't want to. She wanted to stay behind you and just hate everything about you. She wanted to scowl and glare and belittle you in her own head.

Were you there on purpose?? Or were you there on accident??

Was this part of your big scheme to take her down and humiliate her infront of the whole school? Or were you genuinely trying to just go to school and look pretty??

Lagoona did admit, you looked gorgeous. But that little bit of truth made her even more angry at you. You looked beautiful no matter what, and now you wanted to turn it up a notch??? When would it be Lagoona's turn to humiliate you?

She hated the sight of you being happy. She hated the sight of you being healthy. She hated the sight of you in general. You were terrible. You were pretty. You were charming. You were sweet. You were quiet. You were thoughtful. You were everything she ever wanted to be, and even though she was pretty and charming and sweet and thoughtful, you seemed to beat her by a mile.

And she absolutely hated you for it.

If she had slowed down, she would realize that it wasn't your fault. If she had taken a moment to think rather than react, she would understand that you were also upset over her. But she didn't.

No, slowing down and thinking wasn't what she wanted to do. She wanted to make you out as a horrible, disgusting monster to make herself feel better. She wanted to put you down again and again for no reason. She wanted you to seem crazy and jealous and spiteful to make her look angelic and happy and perfect.

But that wasn't going to happen, and every ounce of her absolutely loathed you for it.

Your obliviousness to her existence felt like nails on a chalkboard.

Lagoona took her eyes somewhere else. She looked around her and admired the trees. They looked really familiar to her, and eventually a large castle-like building could be seen.

Oh, shit! Lagoona gawked at her ability to space out. She had followed you all the way to school!!

Would it be following? She was heading to school anyway...

She watched your back disappear into the school building with Jackson at your side.

She wanted a friend like Jackson. Or maybe she wanted a friend like you?

Hell no! She couldn't stand you!!

You and her had unintentionally became arch enemies in less than a week. She couldn't stand you, and you couldn't stand her.

But what if that wasn't true? What if you did like her and you just didn't know how to show it? What if you actually wanted to be her friend and she was too busy hating you to see that? What if you actually had a crush on Jackson and felt like she was trying to take him away??

Lagoona didn't care. It didn't matter to her either way. You were better than her, and she hated you for it. You were prettier, and she couldn't stand it. The confidence you drained from her was draped across your shoulders like a cape. The happiness you stole from her laid on your head like a crown. The excitement you had taken you wore like precious, expensive jewels.

She was just another battle to you, another conquest. You had conquered her and everything that had ever made up her personality by simply being yourself, and you hung her defeat around you to show off every ounce that you had stripped off of her.

You were a queen, and she was the average, slimy, disgusting servant.
