Lagoona rushed to the diner and threw open the doors. Her eyes scanned the room, looking for anyone with a slight resemblance of you.

Her sight caught a small glimpse of your shirt, and she turned in your direction. You were squished in a booth against the wall, catching minimal attention from anyone standing around.

Lagoona slid in across from you and smiled widely.

"H-Hi!" She breathed.

You squinted at her. Her smile was dripping with adrenaline-induced energy. She almost seemed insane, as she let out small giggles from her throat.

"Hey..?" You replied, and you sat your phone down.

"So sorry I'm late! I wasn' watchin' the clock!" She huffed.

"We didn't set a time." You reminded. "You just said after the tournament."

Her mind froze. Did she say that? Her lack of remembering was scary, but easy to shrug off. Lagoona struggled to form words, and her anxiety of acting a fool only made things worse.

"I, uh..I don', um..."

You watched her spill out pathetic mumbles and noises. Nothing was coherent, making you arch your brow. Surely she was on something. There was no way that she was naturally like this.

"I saw you swim." You interrupted. Her rambling was beginning to look sad, and you wanted the meeting over as soon as possible. "You were great."

"Y-You think so?" Her eyes sparkled in the light. "I thought it-it was just...borin'!"

"Well, I thought it was impressive." You hummed. "I definitely can't swim like that."

Lagoona blushed at your compliment and sighed. A waitress walked around and smiled at the two of you before pulling out a notepad.

"What can I get you?" The waitress asked.

You looked at Lagoona. "Um, I'll take a hamburger, fries, and a (F/F) milkshake."

Lagoona nodded. "I want the same, please!"

The waitress nodded and wandered off, leaving you to stare at the table in a heavy awkwardness. You didn't know why she wanted to invite you out, but she didn't really seem to have a motive.

"So..did you need me for something?" You asked.

She shrugged. "I figured we could hang out, y'know!"

You watched as the energy seeped back into her body, bringing your anxiety up a level. There were definitely some sort of illegal substances involved, you thought, and you wanted to leave more and more with each passing second.

"Yeah, I get it." You pushed your hair behind your ears.

Lagoona watched your fingers play with the ends of your hair, noticing the strong awkward tension around you. She thought for a moment before looking into your eyes.

Before she could allow a single word to escape her lips, a tray of food was forced between you two. The waitress handed out the plates, ignoring the desperate stares that Lagoona tried to share with you.

You thanked the waitress, not so much as for the food as you did for the interruption. It was a great excuse to break the lingering gaze.

You shoved a few fries in your mouth, making it appear as if you were too busy to hold the conversation that Lagoona tried to strike up. Her multiple attempts to start on a topic looked rushed and insincere.

"Why did you want me to meet you here?" You asked in between chews.

Lagoona stuttered before giving a bright smile. "I wanted to talk to you."

"About?"

"Oh, just stuff!"

Her immediate confidence gain surprised you. Earlier when asked, she froze. But now she's actually talking?

"Like what?" You dug deeper. "I thought you didn't like me. I definitely didn't like you."

Your bluntness was definitely surprising, but not unwelcome. Lagoona found it charming how honest and genuine you were. You were a very real person, despite being constantly around others who acted fake and immature.

"Well, I want to be friends." Lagoona smiled.

"For what? So you can spread stuff about me?" You glared. "I know how this works."

"N-No! Really! I want to be on good terms with you!" She waved her arms around madly, and you scrunched yourself back against the booth. "You're a cool person! I just wanted to be a part of your group!"

"I don't have a group." You hummed, and you popped another fry in your mouth. "I only have Jackson."

"Well, that's a group to me!" She shrugged proudly. "And I want to be in it!"

"We're humans." You furrowed your brows.

"So? I think you're really cool! And nice! And pretty!"

"Thanks."

Your eyes drifted around the diner, searching for any excuse possible to let you leave the situation you had found yourself in. A small clock on the countertop faced you, and you focused on the time.

It was 8:46 at night.

You let out an exaggerated sigh and slid your untouched plate aside. Any hunger you had felt was now replaced with an uncomfortable buzz, and you wanted to rid yourself of it in any way, shape, or form.

"Wow, look at that time!" You gave a forced smile. "Phew, I hate to do this but uh...I gotta go!"

You flagged down the waitress and shoved a 10 dollar bill in her hand before standing and shrugging.

"Sorry, maybe we can do this some other time."

Lagoona nodded and watched you leave. Once you had left her vision, her face erupted into a fiery red.

She couldn't believe it. You actually wanted to hang out with her again!! Her awkwardness was replaced with excitement, and she threw a 10 dollar bill on the table and jumped out the door.

If she wanted to hang out with you again, then she needed to plan it. And what a better time to plan it then right then?

But she couldn't do it at the diner, oh no. She wanted something with a different feeling, a different aura.

Maybe you two could swim?

You couldn't swim.

Maybe she could teach you to swim? It didn't matter to Lagoona, all she wanted was to befriend you.

And as for you? Well, you wanted to get the hell away from her and whatever she was on.
