Lagoona squinted her eyes at you and Jackson. She had chosen the booth across from you to catch your attention, but instead she just made an easier way for you and Jackson to joke and play around. Her jealousy felt like the heat from a fire.

You paid it no mind, though. You preferred Jackson over her any day, and you didn't care to hide it. You hoped it would ward her off, but doubted it would.

It didn't. Instead, it made her even more determined to get your attention.

She cleared her throat loudly. You and Jackson kept your conversation going, leaving her on her own again.

Lagoona rolled her eyes and tapped on the table. You glanced over at her, but didn't stop talking.

Finally, the waitress interrupted. Lagoona smiled.

"What can I get you?" The waitress asked.

"Um-"

"The usual?" The waitress pointed over to you. You nodded.

Jackson hummed. "Me too."

Lagoona nodded. "Same!"

As soon as the waitress left, Lagoona jumped on the open opportunity to have your attention.

"So! How was class?" She asked.

You shrugged and leaned back in the booth. "It was okay. It could've been better but whatever."

"Yeah, it was fine." Jackson agreed.

Lagoona gave him a fake smile before looking back at you. You hadn't paid the least bit of attention to her.

"So..we never talked much!" She grinned. "What do you want to do when you leave school?"

You thought. "I think...I want to go into some type of biology. I love animals."

"That's a great option!"

"Yeah! You should be a zookeeper." Jackson nodded. "You get to play with the animals all day!"

"Sounds fun." You giggled. "But I don't know if that'll pay the bills."

"It might!" Lagoona strived for your attention again. "I'm sure we could do some research about it."

"Maybe." You shrugged again. "But I'm more worried about school right now."

"Don't stress about it! I'm sure you'll be fine!"

"(Y/N) makes all A's." Jackson beamed proudly. "She can definitely do whatever she puts her mind to."

You blushed and looked away. His flattery was something you heard often, yet you never seemed to get tired of it. He wrapped an arm around you and smiled even wider at Lagoona.

"Really? I knew you were smart!" Lagoona hummed. "I bet you'll be the greatest ever!"

"Yeah right." You chuckled.

The waitress came back with your food shortly after. You smiled and gave her a silent 'thank you' before sliding your plate closer to the edge of the table.

Lagoona watched as your fingers wrapped around the burger to take a bite. You were so pretty, with the neon open sign behind you and the dim lights above to illuminate your face. You were so pretty, in fact, that Lagoona needed a picture.

She pulled out her iCoffin and turned in her seat.

"Selfie!" She called, and she held the phone above her to capture the entire table.

Jackson reached an arm around you and pushed his face against yours. You looked up and smiled brightly, you instinct being to pose before asking about it. She clicked the button a few times and pulled her phone down.

"Look!" She exclaimed.

You and Jackson peered at the screen she held out for you. It was a cute picture, you wouldn't lie.

"Send it to me!" Jackson hummed.

"And me." You replied before taking a sip of your milkshake.

Lagoona's smile faultered. "I don't have your number."

"Oh." You sighed. "That's okay. Jackson can-"

"Just give it to me and I'll send it!" Lagoona interrupted.

She wanted to squeal. She'd get to have your number?? She'd get to text and call you?? She'd get to talk to you whenever?? Lagoona couldn't hold it in very well, and she started tapping her hand against the table from excitement.

You noticed and pulled back slightly. Yep, she was definitely on something. There was no way in hell you'd give a drug addict your number.

"Uh, I don't have a number." You lied. "I only use ghostchat."

"Then give me your ghostchat!" She giggled.

Jackson noticed her strange behavior and pulled out his phone. "Uh, she can't give that out."

"Why not?" Lagoona asked.

"Safety." He glared.

At first, Jackson didn't understand why you thought she was on something. After seeing her act the way she did, though, he instantly understood and wanted to keep you comfortable.

"But it's me, Jackson!" She pleaded. Her whining tone turned into a glare, and she dropped her shoulders threateningly. "You're not in charge of her, anyway."

"Okay, time for us to go." Jackson nodded, and he allowed you to slip out of the seat before he did. He grabbed your phone and his to go cup and waved to her. "See you later, Lagoona."

"Wait! What do you mean?!" She jumped up to follow.

"We have to go." Jackson blocked Lagoona from seeing you, allowing you to slip from the diner.

"Why?!" Lagoona's immediate mood shift shocked everyone, including her. "Why the fuck are you making her leave?!"

"It's our curfew." Jackson replied, and he left the diner, and Lagoona, behind.

He met up with you down the road. You were shaking and obviously distressed. He rubbed his hands up and down your arms slowly.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

You nodded and hugged him. He hugged you back and, without thinking, placed a small kiss on your head. You didn't move away, and instead placed a kiss on his chest. He grinned.

"Do you want me to walk with you home?" He asked. "I will."

"Yes, please." You hummed.

He held your hand gingerly and walked beside you. You rested your head against his shoulder. "I told you she was weird."

He shook his head. "I don't know what she's gotten into, but we don't need to be a part of it."

"No, we don't." You agreed. "I'm sorry for dragging you out here."

"No, thank you for bringing me. I don't want to imagine what could have happened to you. I love you, (Y/N)."

You stopped. He did?

"I love you too, Jackson."
