You and Jackson walked side by side the following week. Everything between you and Lagoona seemed to disappear from your mind, and you were finally able to enjoy Jackson's company without feeling inferior to anyone.
Sure, it was a shallow thing to think about, but it was something that had plagued your mind daily, and it was something that you were happy to get rid of.
Lagoona, however, didn't forget about you. How could she? She saw you everywhere! She saw you pass by her at school, she saw you at the park, she saw you on the school bleachers, and she even saw you at the grocery store!! How could she forget you when you were everywhere she could think of being.
Lagoona didn't even try to find you. Somehow, you magically appeared wherever she was. And, to make everything worse, you acted like you didn't even see her. You acted like she didn't even exist! Did she not plague your mind the way you plagued hers?? Was she not a virus to you like you were to her??
Whatever the side effects were from meeting you, she didn't want them. She had enough of you before she even got to have a real conversation with you, and she feared the more she saw you, the more effects from you she'd receive.
You made her sick to her stomach, with your smooth skin and shining hair. You were gorgeous, and as much as Lagoona hated to admit it, you were just flat out better than her. She couldn't stand to think about how you thought of her.
What if she was a horrible person in your mind? What if she was this mean, ugly monster? What if you had created her to be a disgusting bitch?
Lagoona not only feared the effects from you, but she also feared your judgement.
She watched from the bushes as you and Jackson walked by. She had started to recognize your daily walking patterns, but only to avoid you, of course. Somehow, she always ended up right where you were, though.
She watched your footsteps take a right turn. If she was correct, which she nearly always was when it came to your daily routine, you were headed straight for the diner.
And Lagoona had every intention of showing up.
Just to see if she was right, though!
She trailed behind you, making sure to put enough space between you two so it wouldn't look suspicious. She squinted at Jackson as he wrapped his arm around your neck.
After a few more minutes of walking, her suspicions were correct. You most definitely were going to the diner.
But she couldn't just leave now. No, no, that'd be too simple. She had to see if you were going to order the same thing you always did: a burger, fries, and a (F/F) milkshake.
She stood outside of the small building for exactly 8 minutes before walking in and sitting down in a booth close to you. Miss Marge walked up to your table first and asked for the order.
Lagoona mentally repeated your order to the woman. She new it word for word.
She knew she should have left by then, but she didn't. She wanted to see if you'd finish your meal. Just to see if she was right.
You ate exactly 3/4 of your burger, all of your fries, and drank your entire milkshake, just as Lagoona had thought.
And then, as soon as you stood up to leave, so did Lagoona.

Lagoona curled up on her bed with her phone in her hands. She scrolled through Frankie's social media page to find Jackson, then Jackson's social media page to find yours. Your name stuck out like a lightbulb in her brain.
(Y/N) (L/N). Wow.
You were absolutely stunning. There wasn't a doubt in her head. Your beauty wasn't something she could sweep away. You weren't something she could sweep away. Your entire existence had never been noticeable before, but now that it was, it wasn't going anywhere.
She studied your features. Your soft complexion radiated warmth and comfort.
Lagoona couldn't believe her own thoughts. Even they had betrayed her! But she couldn't blame them. You were obviously the better choice.
But why make it a competition? You were beautiful. She was beautiful, even if her beauty wasn't anywhere near yours. Maybe you two could've been friends in a different world.
But why entertain that thought? It obviously wasn't going to happen, so why even try it? Why even assume that you would want to be her friend?
You were better. Wouldn't you want to be with people on your level?
But if that was the case, why were you friends with Jackson?
Lagoona mentally slapped herself. Even if it was true, it was rude! Jackson wasn't popular! Why would you ruin your chance to be popular over him?
Lagoona's brain hurt. None of it made sense! Maybe you had a bigger plan going on? Maybe you were plotting?
But for what? What would you be plotting?
Her entire train of thought was nonsense, and she soon gave up on trying to figure you out. She did, however, screenshot your profile picture to remember it better. She didn't want to friend request you, but she definitely didn't want to stop her online stalking.
She tossed her phone to the foot of her bed and rolled over on her back. Everything seemed so complicated now that you were a part of her everyday life. Why couldn't everything be easy and slow like it was before you?
Did you just have that kind of power over her? Or was it her that was constantly entertaining you that ruined her simple life? She didn't know, and she definitely didn't want to take the blame, so she settled on a very easy answer:
It was all your fault, and she had every right to hate you for ruining her perfect little world.
