When it comes to relationships, Shuichi knows he's not the most knowledgeable about how to go about being a good partner. He most certainly tries his best, but he does wish he could be a smooth talker like Rantaro or a gentleman like Gonta.

Perhaps it was a detective's desire for knowledge, or hidden insecurities, but when he heard you talking with Kaede on the phone he decided to listen in. He had planned to invite you to eat some dinner together or maybe watch a movie, but when he heard you talking from behind your room's door he stopped.

"I just don't know how to go about it, Kaede. We've been together for a while now, I just really don't want to ruin it by suggesting we... you know... take it to the next level.."

Shuichi could feel his face heating up as he had to double take to ensure he had heard you correctly? You wanted to take it further with him? It's not like he was complaining, and his detective's intuition had been thinking that may be the case, but to hear it directly from you...

"Well of course I'm worried he'll shut me down... but that's not the biggest issue to me... Well, you know how I am; I'm not the type of person to be a top, you know... I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but it seems like Shuichi's a bottom as well... you get what I'm saying?"

Oh, so that's why you hadn't brought it up yet? That's understandable reasoning, but Shuichi wished you wouldn't worry about something like that. He may not seem like it, but he identifies as a switch; if you wanted him to top then he'd be able to pull it off. He certainly identifies more with being a bottom, but he'll do what it takes to make you happy...

Shuichi decided to leave you to talk to Kaede in private as he grabbed his wallet and keys. He could do his shopping online, but he doesn't want you to find out about his surprise early...

As the weekend was approaching you had been late coming back from work because you took on an extra shift for a coworker that had a family emergency. You didn't mind because it wasn't too busy, plus the extra pay is always nice. Still, you were more than ready to be home. Shuichi had told you he'd prepare something for you to eat, so you didn't need to worry about picking something up on the way home. Besides, a homemade dinner will always trump cheap fast food.

When you entered your shared home, you were hit with the scent of hot spaghetti. With how the lighting was done in the house, it was clear Shuichi was setting up a romantic atmosphere; not that you minded. It was actually quite sweet of Shuichi to do something like this for you; especially after a long day at work.

"Welcome home (Name); you want me to take care of your things?"

You smiled warmly, handing Shuichi your bag as well as your jacket as you shrugged it off your shoulders.
