Kaitokisserrrrrrrr, I must warn you that angst is genre I'm least skilled in. However, I hope you'll still enjoy it.

It's hard enough to be placed in a killing game, where you can die by anyone's hands at any moment. With no way to escape, and dear friends dying off one by one. Hope diminishing day by day, trust being destroyed between the other students. For you however, that wasn't even the hardest thing you were dealing with. Yes, those things were difficult, but the most difficult thing for you was the situation with your crush.

Ever since meeting the other students trapped alongside you, you felt a connection with Kaito, the ultimate astronaut. His positivity was inspiring, with him being able to seemingly brighten your mood no matter the situation. Yes, you truly were developing romantic feelings for him.

The issue was that he already seemed to be connecting with another student; Maki. Ever since he began to help her come out of her shell, the two grew closer and closer. You felt no ill intent towards Maki; it's not like she was trying to take Kaito from you, not like he was ever yours to begin with.

When learning about Maki's background, it was clear Kaito seemed to be one of the first people she could open up to; you should be happy for her. You really should; the both of them seemed happy together, even if they weren't official yet. Even so, you could feel your heart breaking day by day.

It's not like Kaito was rude to you; quite the opposite. He was very kind to you; you, Maki, Shuichi, and Kaito seemed to form a little group as the days had passed. You joined in the training sessions, hung out, investigated together... You're sure if you asked him Kaito would say you were close friends.

The problem is that you knew he didn't see you as anything more than just a friend. While you did your best to hide your affections, it seemed like you couldn't fool the ultimate detective. Seeing as you were his friend, it didn't surprise you when he tried to talk to you about your issues.

"I'm not saying that Kaito will change his feelings or anything... But perhaps telling Kaito can help remove a weight you seem to be carrying. It must be hard to hide your affections..."

You shook your head, smiling weakly.

"Thanks for the suggestion Shuichi, but I don't want to deal with him rejecting me. You won't tell him, right?"

Shuichi shakes his head.

"Of course not, your secret's safe with me. I promised Himiko I'd watch her magic tricks so I'll be off."

You watched as Shuichi walked off; it really was incredible how he seemed to be able to befriend everyone, even if he was closer to those in your little group. Regardless, you headed back to your dorm room to think for a bit. Kaito and Maki were hanging out at the moment, and you weren't sure if you could face them at the moment.

Things had been relatively calm for the last couple days, that is until Kokichi introduced some hammers to use to make it through the escape route you had found in the very beginning. For a moment things seemed to be looking up... That is until you saw what the 'outside world' truly was. To make matters worse, Kokichi took Kaito captive.

You and Maki were ready to kill Kokichi when he had been taken, and even if you weren't as experienced in combat as Maki, you were ready to give it your all. Still, you were left powerless as Kokichi took Kokichi away.

The group all seemed depressed, and you honestly couldn't blame them. With the mastermind revealed, there didn't seem like any point in continuing on. You couldn't beat Kokichi with the machinery he had in his possession, and everything seemed to be over.

That is, until Maki revealed the latest flashback light. With the material revealed to you all, you gained the courage to go in after Kokichi and save Kaito. You were ready to do whatever it took to help save Kaito.

Everything seemed to be going to plan... Until you finally entered where Kaito was being held. Underneath the hydraulic press... Laid Kaito's dead body. You, along with the others, were devastated. While you had been too scared to tell him, a part of you regrets never telling Kaito how you felt.

Despite wanting to avenge Kaito, your heart felt too pained to do anything. During the investigation, you couldn't do anything. You told Shuichi that you just stayed in your room the entire time, but that's all you did.

The trial wasn't much different. You had nothing to contribute, and despite not being able to defend your alibi, it seemed as though none of the evidence pointed to you being the culprit, so you were safe at the very least.

You zoned out the words everyone was saying, knowing that listening to the Kaito voice would only make things all the worse for you. Your mind was in a world all of your own, and it seemed like you may zone out and not press the vote button.

That seemed to be what would happen; that is, until Kaito exited and showed his body to you all. He was alive, he was really alive! You wanted to say something, anything... But nothing left your lips.

You were forced to watch as Maki finally confessed to Kaito, face covered in tears. Kaito accepted her confession, telling her to smile. He offered words of advice to everyone, including you. He told you to stay strong, and you could only nod, tears spilling from your eyes.

Your eyes couldn't look away from him, even with the tears making your eyes all glossy. Even during the execution, you couldn't look away. You watched as the one you loved was taken from this world.

Everyone was devastated, although no one could blame anyone else for crying. Before anyone could say anything to you, you left to go back to your dorm. You didn't know what to do, what you could do...

It's not like you didn't see this coming... Perhaps not Kaito's death, but Kaito accepting Maki's feelings. Of course he wouldn't ever accept yours; he seemed pretty adamant on only liking girls...

Your exhaustion from crying was the only thing that was able to help you drift off to sleep. You became even worse than when Kaito was in captivity, never leaving your room despite the others begging you to leave. You just couldn't...

One day when Shuichi, Maki, and Himiko approached your room with food, the door was unlocked. It didn't make any sense for it to be unlocked, since you normally locked your door even when leaving. When they opened the door, it didn't take long for the body discovery announcement to play. Another student had been taken away from them due to the killing game.
