Christmas Cartoons (Ryota Mitarai X Female Reader) {Christmas Special}

A Ryota Mitarai oneshot was requested by Gabby0489 but they didn't request anything specific with the scenario. With Christmas coming up though I thought I'd make it a Christmas Special. I hope that's okay with you Gabby, but if you want something else just let me know.

It's always fun to see the Christmas specials appearing in stores, the streets becoming lit with Christmas lights, children smiling with anticipation for presents their parents purchase in secret, and just the overall joy that comes with the Christmas season. The Christmas season is truly the happiest time of the year; that is, if you didn't have assignment upon assignment piled on top of you.

Unlike your ultimate boyfriend, you were an ordinary person in the reserve course. You had normal classes, normal assignments, but an abnormal amount of assignments given over the Christmas break. In fact, your break was only two days; Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

With the stress that comes with your assignments, it makes sense that your Christmas spirit wouldn't be so high. Ryota would do his best to encourage you or tear himself away from his work to help you with whatever he could, but you insisted that his work was more important than a reserve course student's work.

"I can do this, I promise. You just focus on your animations."

And so, he did. He knew he couldn't do much to finish your assignments, but he knew he could encourage you, to lift your spirits. So it wasn't a surprise for him to chain himself back to his desk to work on a new animation. He didn't have much time, so he knew he had to give his all to it. It was for you after all; you deserve only the best.

The following morning you woke up to notice that Ryota had sent you a message. It was delivered in the middle of the night, so you could only wonder what he was up to at that hour. You knew he had a tendency to stay up light, but it never ceased to worry you.

The message was actually an animation which you clicked on to watch. His work never ceased to amaze you; the work of an ultimate was truly extraordinary. As a 'normal person', anything he did was incredible.

The animation started with a tree's trunk, soon going up to show pears on the tree. It soon showed a partridge in a nest. The partridge smiles and the phrase 'You can do this!' appeared over it with a heart as the period for the exclamation mark.

The animation soon ended. It wasn't a long animation, but it really did seem to lift your spirits as you got ready for the day. When you had a break in class you'd look back at it to cheer you up.

The following day you woke up to see another animation; this time featuring two turtle doves. It seemed like Ryota had taken inspiration from the Twelve Days of Christmas song, but you weren't complaining in the slightest. The short animations meant a lot to you, and it was making the days of school so much easier. The assignments didn't get any easier, but with a lifted mental state it made it easier for you to get to work.

It seems like he also got help from Imposter to ensure you were eating properly, as it was becoming more common to find some dinner outside your dorm room with a sweet message from Ryota. Sure, the portions were usually too big for you to eat, but that just meant you could have it for lunch the following day. Hopefully Imposter was also making sure Ryota ate enough as well; you weren't the only one who had trouble remembering to eat.

Time seemed to fly by as it was now the 23rd of December; your last day before your two-day break. Waking up, you eagerly looked at your phone to see what animation Ryota had sent you. It would be the animation covering the twelfth day of the song, so you knew it would be something quite special.

And the animation did not disappoint. Not only did the animation for the drummers appear, it went back through the other eleven messages he had sent, the encouraging messages also reappearing. After the partridge showed up, a new animation showed Ryota offering a present in a Santa Claus costume. 'Will you join me for Christmas Eve?' was the message that appeared after he opened the present.

As soon as the animation ended you were quick to text Ryota, letting him know you'd love to join him for Christmas Eve. Afterwards you hurried to get ready for the day, already looking forward to classes being over so you could spend time with Ryota.

Ryota didn't usually go to class, so you hurried back to the dorms instead of his classroom when classes finished. You wanted to get there as quickly as possible now that you were free from the clutches of your assignments.

Unsurprisingly, Ryota was in his dorm room animating one of his projects he had been working on for some time now. Smiling softly, you hugged him once he opened the door.

"Oh, h-hey (Name). It's so good to see you."

You smiled widely, not letting go for a good minute or two. After being forced to focus on school for a while, you were glad to finally be able to see Ryota.

"Thanks for the animations; they really helped me these past couple weeks. I'm looking forward to spending Christmas with you."

Pulling away, you could see Ryota shyly smiling away, averting his eyes, unable to keep eye contact with you. He was always so shy; not that you minded.

"I'm also looking forward to it... Christmas is going to be so much better now that I can spend it with you."

A soft pink hue appeared on your cheeks as you gave him a soft kiss on his cheek. Chuckling as his flusteredness, you slipped off your shoes and walked further in his dorm room.

It was finally time to enjoy yourself; and what better way to do that then to spend time with your loving boyfriend? The past couple weeks had been difficult, but it was because of Ryota that you had been able to survive. And now you were able to enjoy some quality time with him; the only Christmas gift you truly needed.
