Over the next few days your family grew more active. Lucifer and Lilith had both completely recovered, although, since Alastor was too stubborn to leave you on your own, you were both still a bit sick. Though you were no longer contagious, so Alastor had returned to the hotel with Charlie. In the four weeks it had been since Alastor showed up in your life for the new years cleanse, it felt like years longer.

Hell, he'd even managed to find his way to your family's front step.

Most failed before the idea even came up.

Your father had said nothing about the relationship. Whether it had been Alastor's devotion to you, or his determination to get you back from Vox and Val, something about Alastor had impressed Lucifer.

And you doubted that it was simply because Lucifer already knew Alastor.

Shit, Val had been around for a long time as an overlord before the two of you even thought about each other in general.

So as you roused yourself from your bed, you noticed that he was gone, which was fine with you. Although, you quickly realized what had woken you from your sleep.

Charlie was blowing up your phone trying to get you to answer. So as it rang again, you quickly picked it up, worried for her safety.

"Hello?!" You asked immediately.

"Jesus Christ Mel. I thought you'd never pick up." Charlie responded, making you let out a sigh.

"Are you okay?"

"Physically, yes, I just want to talk to you. Can you come down to the hotel?"

"Yeah, just... give me a minute." You said, hanging up the phone.  In moments, you were dragging yourself out of bed to get dressed. Quickly, you dressed yourself and took to your hygiene. After putting on some light makeup and doing your air for the day, you made your way out of your room and down the stairs.

Unsurprisingly, you ran into your mother, who asked about your intentions.

"I'm going out to eat with Charlie, why? Did you need something?"

"Well, no, I'm just curious, you've hardly gotten out of bed in the past couple of days. I'm a bit surprised, is she okay?"

"If you'd answer her calls you'd know." You said snarkily before turning away and leaving her to eat your words. You knew they'd piss her off, but honestly, you didn't care.  Instead of waiting for the repercussions of your actions, you left.

As promised, Charlie was waiting for you, and you briefly looked around for Alastor, but didn't see him, so you gave your sister your full attention.

"Did dad tell you that he asked me to meet with Adam?" Charlie began, shocking you a bit, you shook your head no and followed her deeper into the hotel, finding a secluded spot to speak with her.

"Well, I did. And... It didn't go great, he's refusing to work with me, and honestly, I don't really know where to go from here. The next extermination is around the corner, it's in November this year. And I know it seems far away, but it's already Febuary..."

"So what are you asking of me Charlie?" You questioned, unsure of what she wanted.

"I guess, I just wanted to tell you. Alastor is... interesting in the way's he chooses to go about things. I think he just wants to annoy Vaggie, but I just," Charlie drifted, letting out a sigh, "I don't know."

She's already losing hope. You realized suddenly.

And for a moment, you wanted to say I told you so, but you knew how the angels worked.
