The next morning, Melinoë was in a horrible mood. She didn't snap at anyone, she wasn't rude. But everywhere she went, there was just a terrible air of sadness around her. Lucifer also had a different air about him. While there was definitely a certain grief he was feeling, it was more of an anger that he was radiating.

Still, I had made a promise to Luci, so I planned on going to the hotel today.

I was walking out the front door of the castle when something shining caught my eye.

A small gold object sat on a table beneath a mirror, I made my way over to it, wanting to inspect it further out of sheer curiosity. It was a locket. Curious, I opened it and saw Lucifer holding Charlie, next to her was another demon. Something else caught my attention, a blue ring sat on Charlie's left hand, on her ring finger. Implying that she was engaged.

The demon next to her had bluish-green skin with a blue suit and a matching hat. He looked to be a demon of power by the way he held himself, very similar to the way Lucifer stands. Though I didn't recognize him. So he couldn't have been anyone too powerful.

That or he's dead.

So I stowed the locket in my pocket. I would ask Charlie about it when I got to the hotel. I decided against flying or teleporting there, I wanted to walk and clear my mind of the events from the night before. I fingered the microphone in my hand picking off things that destroyed its perfect appearance.

Instead of thinking about yesterday, I thought about the blue-green demon.

Who was he?

Why was Charlie wearing an engagement ring?

She never wore rings or necklaces, unlike Melinoë. She wore family heirlooms all the time, mostly because Lilith demanded it, but still. Apart from the necklace Charlie occasionally wore, which was an heirloom, she never wore jewelry.

I still don't know how she was going to be feeling today since her capture of Rose and the death of her friend. Not only that, but Mel and Charlie had been separated for a long time, and it was beginning to wear on the both of them. They're very close, when someone messes with one, the other becomes a monster of protection.

But they also made each other insanely happy.

I had felt the strength of their bond when I watched them play around in the air on the night of the cleanse. Their joy was contagious. It had made everyone around them happier.

But still, I didn't know how Charlie would be feeling as I knocked on the door of the hotel.

Vaggie opened it. "Smile my dear it's a beautiful morning in Hell!" I grabbed her chin just to piss her off. "I'd hate for you to upset anyone here." I added, sweeping by her with a small wave.

Vaggie threw me a fierce glance.

"So where is Charlie? I have a few things to ask her." I asked Vaggie, walking around and inspecting a few things. I smiled at Nifty as she passed by with a smile. "Charlie is busy, anything you need to ask her you can ask me." Vaggie retorted. I rolled my eyes at this and took the locket out of my pocket. I dangled it by its chain. "What's the story behind this?" I asked.

Vaggie's eyes widened as she snatched the locket out of my hand. "Where did you find this?!" she exclaimed quietly as she looked at it.

"That's her ex, he was... not the greatest to her. But he loved her. Seviathan was, to say the least, entitled. He is very powerful. He'd give you a run for your goddamn money. Alastor, just... don't bring it up." Vaggie said putting the locket in her pocket.
