Upon reaching the castle, Lilith was inside speaking with Moxxie and Millie, the two imps then immediately turned and left. They split as I approached, one going on either side of me, passing a quick glance before they left. Lilith lifted her gaze and looked at me expectantly.

"What did Stolas say?"

"We have theories of there possibly have been an Oni that was impersonating Kelsey and Athena, Stolas' counter argument was that Lucifer never sensed anything wrong because there was nothing wrong, however, I think it's a bit strange that the castle was uninhabited. Stolas is questioning the imps that used to work for Kelsey, have you been able to get anything out of Arthur?" I said as Lilith turned, I followed on light feet. I noticed that she was walking towards the garden, something she often did when she was upset.

"Malachi and Eridah are talking to him right now, I was just talking to Moxxie and Millie over something they found."

"What did they find?"

"A massive stash of holy weapons. One fairly close to Kelsey's estate." Lilith said grimly, making a bit of shock cross my features.

"Do you think Kelsey knew?" I questioned, opening the door to the garden for her, Lilith shook her head and quickly thanked me for opening the door as she stepped outside, I noticed that her horns had disappeared, and if memory served, that rarely happened.

Mel had told me it only really happened when her mother was genuinely upset, when this happened she would usually let Lucifer take full control of whatever situation they were facing. And I had to admit, I wasn't a fan of her being upset.

For a woman who had always been about equality and shown such strength, it was jarring to see her like this.

Hell, Lilith would rather leave her entire world in the dust than be seen as anything less than he is.

Her resolve was breaking, and it was honestly breaking my heart just seeing her so unbelievably sad. Even as she was clearly upset, she managed to form an angry tone.

"If he knew he sure as hell didn't say anything about it." Lilith snorted, a glare on her features as she processed her thoughts.

I realized she had her own theories and decided to inquire.

"So what do you think?" I asked, prompting her to pause as she reached a terrace with Wisteria growing along the crossed wooden bars. The heavy smell of the flower was almost suffocating as I waited for her answer.

Lilith let out a sigh and turned to me.

"What I think, is definitely going to hurt Lucifer. However, I'm hoping that you're right." Lilith declared vaguely. I frowned, but didn't press further as she continued walking.

"So where do you want to go from here?" I asked instead, following slightly behind her.

She let out another breath. "If I'm being honest, I have no idea... But, once we hear back from Stolas and Arthur, we'll have a better idea." Lilith declared, leading me to a specific part of the garden that contained a canopy and a few stone benches. She sat on one and I sat across from her so that I could look her directly in the eyes.

"Is there any chance we could chase after them?" I questioned.

"I already explained this to the others, but if Lucifer is in the desecrated rune, he'll likely head to the heart of the rune." Lilith began.

"Why?"

"At the center of the rune lies a portal of sorts, every human, angel, demon and sinner alike passes through it. The desecrated rune is the center of the universe, Lucifer will likely head to the heart in order to get back here. The only problem is that there's magic protecting the rune that might even be too difficult for Lucifer to get through. It's there to keep the Oni from leaving the rune." Lilith explained, making a question rise in my mind immediately.
