Taylor walked tiredly into the apartment and took off her shoes. She was very tired, since she had sat up late last night working on papers and had been in the office early in the morning for a meeting.
Now it was late lunchtime and she came home early as she had been invited to a dinner party later in the evening and therefore she had to get ready, and to be honest her plan was to sleep for at least 20 minutes.
But while she was still in the hallway she heard an unfamiliar voice in the hallway
"No Jen, that's off topic, take it out of the presentation" said the male voice
"It's all on topic, it will dilute the dry scientific facts you wrote."
"Yes, and facts are what we need to get a good grade."
At that moment Taylor cautiously peeked into the living room to see Jenny with some young guy, seemingly the same age as herself or maybe a little older. The teenagers were sitting on the floor, reclining on the couch, typing something on their laptops while a biology textbook and some papers, must have been outlines, were lying next to them.
"With a presentation like that, the teacher will fall asleep before we're done," Jenny said wryly, still not noticing that they weren't alone anymore
"Oh, no!"
"Good afternoon" came Taylor's voice, already openly entering the living room with a stern expression on her face
"Oh, hi, Mom." greeted her with a nod from Jenny, deep in her papers.
"Hello" nodded the boy, smiling cautiously as if he were afraid of Taylor
"Oh, yes, I'm supposed to introduce you" Jenny came to her senses "Mom, this is my friend Michael, he and I are working on a biology project together so he came here."
"Nice to meet you, Taylor," the boy said, extending his hand for a handshake.
Taylor shook it and she cast him another glance. A fancy haircut, light hair, brown eyes, and a nice smile. He was slightly shorter than Taylor but taller than Jenny, skinny, but his short-sleeved T-shirt gave a glimpse of the small muscles in his arms.
(Something like young DiCaprio,lol)
A rather conspicuous detail for Taylor was the watch on his arm. She thought she'd seen one somewhere before. It wasn't electronic like most teenagers had, but mechanical and seemingly even vintage. The strange thing was that for some reason it reminded her of Alwyn, because he wore one just like it. Wait, Alwyn...
Taylor looked at the boy again, this time more closely. And she seemed to see similar features. Michael looked like the boy who had been with Joe the day of their trip to the movie theater.
"Is everything okay mom?" Jenny asked, snapping Taylor out of her musings
"Yes, I just wanted to ask one detail," now Taylor was openly glaring at the young boy, "what's your last name, Michael?"
