Chapter 2: (y/n) Age 10

Shanks POV: 

"Damn. We were in the grocery store so long it turned dark outside." I say.

"Damn." I heard (y/n) say suddenly causing me to laugh. I look over at Law, who is driving and he looks pissed. Quickly, I stopped laughing and turned back to look at (y/n) who was in the seat behind me.

"Oh. I mean (y/n), watch your mouth." I said.

"Sorry."

"At least you're not the one driving. I hate driving at night." Law said coldly as we made our way down the empty street.

"It's not my fault they took away my license."

"You lost your arm for a brat and before you were used to only having one arm, you went out driving." He paused. "You're driving was so bad you got pulled over. You got in so much trouble that eventually you had to retake your driver's test and failed."

"Ouch. Too straight forward."

"Can you tell the story of how you lost your arm again dad?" (y/n) asked.

"Luffy and I were walking outside when suddenly there was a massive car accident right next to us. A piece of metal was flying straight at Luffy so I grabbed him and pulled him back but the metal sliced through my arm, cutting it off instantly."

"Ew." My daughter said, making me laugh. "How did you meet Luffy?"

"You know that bar I go to all the time? The one Makino owns?"

"Mhm. You always went there on your lunch break and again after work for a little bit." (y/n) said. Damn. What is it with my kids loving to expose me?

"Yea that's the one." I say quickly and irritated. "Well, one day Luffy showed up at the bar. Apparently, he already knew Makino. Anyways, he got attached to me and came back every day to see me."

"How come Law got to meet him but I didn't?"

"I wish I didn't meet him." Law finally spoke after minutes of silence. The car slowed down as we made our way to a four-way stop. We all went silent to enjoy the rest of the car ride, as we were almost home.

The car completely stopped and when Law saw it was clear after checking both sides of the street, he slowly started going again.

"Dad?" (y/n) suddenly asked in a scared tone.

"Is everything ok?" I ask. My concern grew with every second.

"I think something is coming at us!" She said in a panic.

I looked out my window to see a car flying at us, and before I could say anything, we were hit.

What happened after that was pretty much a complete mystery. We all passed out and the only information we knew was from what the police told us.

When I opened my eyes, I saw I was in a brightly lit room. Where am I? My guess would be the hospital.

I sit up, looking around for my kids but find I am in a room alone with a nurse.

"Sir, do you feel ok?" She asked.

"Yea I feel fine. Where are my kids?"

"Law and (y/n), correct?"

"Yea. Where are they? Are they ok?"

"They are both fine. Your daughter is pretty injured, but your son is awake and fine. The police said the other person clipped the back right of your car, so your daughter was the closest to the impact."
