Chapter 12: Big Steps

Two weeks later:

Sabo just came back from visiting Koala. He had asked us to all sit down for dinner because he had big news to share. Of course, the first thing that came to my mind was he got her pregnant. His response was a lot of yelling and freaking out, so I took that as a hard no.

"What are you gonna do for Halloween (y/n)?" Sabo asked me. We all started grabbing our share of food that was on the table and placing it on our plates. Except for Luffy who just took it straight from the shared plate and right into his mouth.

"Nothing but never mind that, what's the big news you have to tell us?" I replied.

"That can wait. What are the rest of you doing for Halloween? It is tomorrow after all."

"I'm doing a haunted house with Shanks." Luffy replied.

"Nothing." Ace pouted.

"Work." Law chimes in.

"How are you guys gonna get there?" Sabo asked Shanks and Luffy. They looked at each other and shrugged before looking at me. Sabo laughed. "I'll drive you guys if you let me go in with you."

I zoned out, too entranced by my own thoughts, but I could still hear Luffy yell in excitement.

Why does he want us to move in together? He must be really stupid. Didn't Sabo say he was more mature now? Doesn't feel like it. But I guess I didn't know him before so it's all too possible Sabo wasn't lying.

But moving in with Ace would be such a huge step. We have only known each other for about two and a half months. We aren't even officially together. Plus what about Shanks and Luffy? All the houses around us are really spread out. We would still have to drive them, and the drive would be even longer.

Although it would be nice to live with him. We wouldn't have to worry about sneaking around, even though everyone already knows. Maybe I am just as stupid as Ace is.

"(y/n)? Are you ok?" Shanks asked, nudging me slightly.

"Huh? Oh, yea. I'm fine, sorry. Just tired." I lied. Apparently, I zoned out for a while, because everyone was done eating now, including me. I must have been eating unconsciously. I don't even remember it.

"Now that we're done eating, what's your big news, Sabo?" Luffy yelled.

"Be quiet Luffy-ya. That was right in my ear." Law snapped back. Sabo chuckled before talking.

"I'm moving out. Koala and I found an apartment by pops and we are gonna move in together." Sabo said. He looks really excited. I'm happy for him.

"You're leaving?" Luffy pouted. Ace stood up and ran around the table, wrapping his arm around Sabo's neck and pulling him close.

"Good for you Sabo. I'm happy for you, although it'll be lonely without you." Ace said.

"Can I move in with you guys?" Luffy said, latching himself onto Sabo. Ace looked butthurt all of a sudden.

"What? Are you trying to say you don't want to live with me anymore? You really like Sabo that much more than you like me?" Ace snapped trying to push Luffy off of Sabo.

Luffy fought back and Ace used more force. Sabo looked irritated being in the middle. Ace grabbed Luffy and pulled him off of Sabo, taking him out of the room.

"It's been a while since we've fought Luffy. Let's see how much stronger you have gotten." Sabo stood up and started to follow after them.

"I swear Ace has gotten more mature, even though it may not look like it." Sabo said looking at everyone but I knew he was talking to me.
