Chapter 17: Christmas Day

"Wake up guys! It's Christmas!" Luffy shouted as he ran around the basement. "Oh, yea, Sabo and Koala are here too."

Luffy ran upstairs leaving Ace, Law, and I half asleep trying to crawl out of our deflated beds. When I woke up, I found Ace laying on top of me like every morning. He made his way off of the bed, then helped me off as well.

"What time is it?" Law asked getting on his feet. I took my phone off the charger to check the time before putting it in my pocket.

"It's only 6:17" I say as we all groan and make our way toward the stairs. Law went first, followed by me then Ace. When we got upstairs, Luffy was running around while everyone was either sleeping or close to sleeping.

Thatch was handing out cups of coffee to everyone, which people gladly took. I sat down next to my snoring father, while Law sat next to me. Marco, Izo, Thatch, and Ace were on the couch to my left. Sabo, Koala, and Newgate were on the couch to my right.

Luffy quickly delved into the mountains of presents and started handing them out to people. As Luffy handed mine to me, I checked the names to see who each present was from.

One from Sabo and Koala. Marco, Thatch, Marco, and Newgate all got me one as well. Luffy got me something. Law and Shanks got me a few things and... Ace got me a couple things as well. Now I feel awful.

I could only afford the necklace for him. I wanted to give him a couple things, but the necklace took up my entire budget for him, and then some. At least he likes it. He has barely taken it off these past few days, only taking it off when he sleeps.

Once all the presents were passed out, Luffy sat down on the floor next to Shanks and started to rip into his presents. Wrapping paper went flying everywhere as Luffy carelessly opened his gifts. He does have a talent for picking out his gifts amidst a mass of paper.

Everyone else sat and watched Luffy in amazement. Eventually, he was done and was surrounded by a mountain of meat. Luffy said his "thank you's" to everyone and passed out.

After Luffy fell asleep, everyone went on a free for all on their own presents. I didn't really pay attention to anyone else but me, my father, and my brother. Shanks got a lot of alcohol and Law got a lot of gift cards.

I got a few gift cards as well, one each from Marco, Izo, Thatch, and Newgate. I got a new pair of headphones from Sabo and Koala and Luffy got me a huge pack of my favorite snack. Law got me a few books, a new sketchbook, and a new shirt. Shanks got me a blanket, the squishmellow I wanted, and a figure I really wanted.

I saved Ace's gifts for last. I opened the first one and it was an instant camera. The second gift was a custom keychain with the faces from his hat. I opened my last gift, which was one from Ace again. I could feel him staring at me while I opened it. Everyone was busy with their own gifts to pay attention to me and I couldn't have asked for any differently.

I was on the verge of tears looking down at the last present from Ace. It was a stuffed animal of a black cat, and it had an orange collar with Odens' name on the name tag. Damn. He's a pain in the ass, but sometimes he is too sweet. 

I looked up at Ace and mouthed "Thank you" with a huge smile. He returned the smile and nodded.

After everyone opened their presents, we all gathered up the wrapping paper that was scattered everywhere and crushed it down before putting it into many trash bags. Marco brought the trash outside while Thatch served up the breakfast he had in the oven.

He made cinnamon rolls and a lot of them. With the help of Izo, he put three rolls on everyone's plates while Izo passed them out to people in the living room. Newgate put on a movie and after Shanks woke up Luffy, we enjoyed our sugary breakfast.
