Chapter 26: Portgas D. (y/n)

Three months later:

I got a job as an editor about two months ago now, and I couldn't have asked for a better job. I get to work from home and the only time I have to leave for work is for meetings with my clients when they request to meet in person. It's a fun job too, reading stories about different topics.

Tomorrow Ace and I are getting married. It won't be anything fancy. Just family at the courthouse but they don't even know yet. Tomorrow morning I have a meeting with a client, and it ends when my family has their lunch break, so Ace is gonna pick everyone up and surprise them.

They know we got engaged, but we haven't told them anything about the wedding. Ace and I didn't want a big fancy, expensive wedding, so this just made sense. He's also gonna facetime his family so they can watch us get married as well.

I just can't believe I'm getting married. And to Ace of all people. He is just so out of my league. But here we are. I am so excited to spend my life with him. He is a pain in the ass, but that's why I love him. Well, one of the reasons why.

"Can't sleep?" Ace asked, scaring me a little. I looked over at the clock and it read 1 o'clock in the morning.

"I'm sorry. Did I wake you?" I ask. When we fell asleep, he was laying on his back while I laid one side of my body on him. The cats laid on him as well. Now the cats were spread out, one by the foot of the bed and one on the pillows.

Ace was now laying on his side facing away from me as I faced the same direction. I wrapped my arms around him and snuggled up to him, with my face in his hair.

"No, you didn't. Is everything ok?"

"Yea. I'm just excited about tomorrow. I wish we could get lunch with everyone afterward, but I know everyone will have to get back to work."

"It probably wasn't the smartest idea to do this during everyone's lunch breaks." Ace chuckled.

He flipped his body over so that we were facing each other. Ace wrapped his arms around me and threw one of his legs over my hips. Our foreheads touched as we continued talking.

"I'll grab some snacks for everyone before we meet up."

"Sounds good. I took the afternoon off tomorrow, so after the ceremony, we can come back home and spend some time together." He said, making me smile.

"That sounds great."

"Good. Now go to sleep (y/n)." He said and a few seconds later he started snoring. The cat that was sleeping on the foot of the bed squeezed his way between Ace and me and rested his head on top of mine.

I couldn't tell which cat it was because it was too dark, but I was able to fall asleep quickly after that.

"(y/n), hurry up!" Ace yelled through the phone.

"I'm coming. My meeting ran late, but I thought I still had time to get the snacks. I'm right by the courthouse." I replied before hanging up so that I could focus on running.

About a minute later, I made it inside the courthouse practically dead and saw everyone waiting for me.

"What are we even doing here?" Luffy asks as he ran up to me and grabbed the bag of snacks out of my hand. Ace pulled out his phone and a few seconds later, ringing could be heard.

"Just wait Luffy. You'll see soon."

Someone picked up Aces' call. He was about to hand his phone to Luffy, but when he saw Luffy's crusty, food-covered fingers, he winced and handed it to Law. Law forced Kidd to come and Killer happily came along as well. Kidd looks irritated like this is a burden. At least killer is nice and looks interested.
