A month later:
"How do you think Edward is gonna react to us getting another cat?" Ace asked as he turned onto the highway
"I don't know. Unlike Edward, this cat is very energetic. I hope they can at least tolerate each other."
Our new cat was in a carrying bag placed on my lap as his small meows of excitement filled the car.
"How did you come up with his name anyway (y/n)?"
"I named him after someone important to Law. Why? Is it a bad name?" I ask, starting to worry that he hated it.
"No, not at all. Corazon. That's a great name." He said, smiling at me. Ace started to swerve off the road from not paying attention and I freaked out.
"Watch what you're doing Ace!"
"Oops sorry." He chuckled nervously.
Ace and I decided to get another cat after getting Edward a couple of months ago. We talked about it and decided Edward needed a friend in the house while we were at work. I kept an eye on the animal shelters website, and when this unnamed, 1-year-old, orange tabby appeared on the website this morning, I knew we had to meet him.
I showed Ace right away and he agreed, so we contacted them and they told us to come in right away. We left the house that minute and when we got to the shelter, they brought us into a small room and brought in the little orange kitten.
He had a small mouse toy in his mouth and was nervous at first, but then he dropped his toy in front of Ace and started to play with him. I started to play with them as well and it became very evident that this orange kitten would need more attention from us than Edward does.
We talked it over and decided to get him. I thought a hyper cat would be good for Edward so they could play together. Ace said he likes being a cat dad and wanted another child. So with that, we decided to adopt him.
Since he wasn't named yet we got to name him, Corazon was just the first name that came to mind, the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. Plus Law would love it.
All through the adoption process, Corazon couldn't sit still, so Ace played with him while I took care of the papers. After we signed the papers, we went and bought a few things for Corazon, like his own collar, leash, harness, and a carrying bag. Just like last time, we got him a fish-shaped name tag with his name on one side, and my number on the other.
It was obvious that he wouldn't sit still in the car, so we had to keep him in his travel bag, which both Ace and I felt bad about. Thankfully he didn't seem stressed out.
When we pulled into the driveway, Corazon got a lot antsier in his carrier. Ace grabbed the stuff out of the back as I opened the front door. Edward welcomed us home like always.
I set the carrier on the floor and Edward started to sniff it. Ace and I sat on the ground before he unzipped the bag. Edward slowly brought his face close to sniff whatever was inside, but flinched when Corazon popped his head out.
They carefully sniffed each other before Corazon jumped out of his carrier with his toy in his mouth. Edward sat down and we all watched Corazon start to wander around the living room. Suddenly, he stopped and charged at Edward, to which he calmly held his paw out and swatted Corazon.
Corazon looked offended and walked away causing Ace and I to start laughing. The three of us followed Corazon as he wandered to each room of the house. I think Edward was following him to see how he felt about him. He doesn't seem to be phased so far, just confused. Ace and I followed to make sure nothing happened between them, plus the cats are very cute.
