A week later:
We are leaving for Newgates' house today. It's going to take about two days of driving to get there, so we decided to leave this morning to arrive there tomorrow night which is Sunday. The only problem is that we can't bring the dogs, so someone had to drive them over to Rayleigh and Shakky's place at 3 am, and of course, that person was me.
No one wanted to do it, which was understandable. So last night everyone who could drive drew straws and the one who drew the shortest was me. At least I'm almost back home and it's about 5 am. We have to leave soon though, so the second I pull into the driveway, it's gonna be madness trying to get everything in my truck.
When I reached the house, I noticed Shanks sitting outside with everyone's bags. He quickly got up when he noticed my truck approaching and started grabbing some bags.
"What the hell took you so long?" He asked as soon as I got out of my car. I walked around to the back and I opened the bed of my truck for Shanks before helping him put our bags in.
'What do you mean? I'm on time!" I stated, scared that I had forgotten how to tell time.
"Yea I know. I'm just pulling your leg." He laughed. Normally, I would find this funny, but I am running on two hours of sleep right now. I had such a hard time falling asleep last night and had to wake up at 2:30. I don't have enough energy to deal with any bullshit right now.
"Don't forget, since you got your permit, you're gonna be driving a lot. Better not crash my truck." I say leaving him to finish putting the bags in the truck as I headed inside the house.
"What? Oh, come on (y/n). Help your poor one-armed father!" He shouted. I ignored him and walked into the house, which I immediately regretted, it was utter chaos inside.
Sabo was running around like a headless chicken trying to make sure he packed all his stuff while Ace was fast asleep on the couch wrapped up in his jacket. He looks so cute. Then we have Luffy wrapping all his gifts last minute with Law yelling at him for procrastinating.
This is gonna be a long week, isn't it? I kinda wish I could just stay home and have the whole week to myself, but Ace would never let that happen. He's the most excited out of everybody, and that's really saying something considering Luffy.
Ace keeps telling me he's excited for me to meet his family and that he wants me to meet Yamato. I'm nervous that I'll do something stupid and they won't like me or that I won't live up to their expectations of me, since Ace himself confirmed he has talked to them about me.
"Thanks for the help (y/n)." Shanks said sarcastically, giving me a heart attack. I didn't even hear him come inside.
"Sorry. I'm just too tired to be dealing with people's shit right now." I said as he patted my head.
"Yea I know you are. Sorry, you got stuck with dog duty. I'll drive first so you can have a nap in the car, ok?"
"That sounds perfect." I say. Shanks walked over to Ace and grabbed a pillow before smacking him awake.
"Wake up, Freckles. We're about to leave." He yelled. Ace slowly lifted his head and looked around to see who dared to wake him up. When he noticed it was my father he quickly stood up, ready to go.
About a month ago, during our Thanksgiving meal, Ace stood up suddenly and announced to everyone we were officially together. At the time I was sitting across from my father and I had noticed a menacing smile plastered on his face.
Instantly Shanks started acting as if he hated Ace. I knew it was strange since he knew Ace and I had a thing for each other. When I asked him about it he told me his whole plan to act like he doesn't approve of Ace. All so that Ace will do stuff for him to hopefully make Shanks approve of him when in reality, Shanks is just lazy. The worst part of it all, is that it's working.
