"You know," I muttered as I popped open a bag of chips. "When we said we were going to protect Scott I didn't expect this." When Derek told my parents it was probable that these shadow creatures were going to go after him. Since they tried to before the sun came up at the party. Apart from keeping an eye on him at school, we are actually outside his house.

"I could do a much better job at projecting Scott if I was actually by his side."

Dad laughs, adjusting the car mirror to meet my eye. "Consider it your punishment."

I throw my head back. Derek didn't technically sell me out, they showed up at the loft looking for us. They saw the decorations and what we were all wearing, put two and two together. Since Derek could never throw a party, they knew it was me.

I didn't throw Danny under the bus however. Or even the twins. Let's just say I wasn't the only one punished for throwing the party, I have no idea how mom found out. I guess she knew that Peter hadn't left town with Derek, and found out he had just let me throw a party.

It wasn't a fun conversation they had that I had to sit through.

Did Scott know what we were doing? Not at all. My parents thought that if he knew, he would try and ditch us. Which I kind of prefer.

Mom slapped the back of her seat to draw our attention, the sun was beginning to go down. I put aside my bag of chips. If they can't come out in the morning they're going to come back now.

We all kept our ears in alert, and then almost like Lydia's banshee scream but not nearly as loud rings through our ears. I recognize that voice, plus we also saw them go in. Kira.

Derek is the first one out of the car, leaving the rest of us to play catch up.

We broke into the house unannounced, the first thing we see is one of the shadow creatures staring Scott down. And then two more creatures had joined.

We knew that there was no way to kill them, considering the fact that Derek broke one of the creatures' necks and it just snapped back into place. "Mom the ash!" Scott yells to Melissa as we dodge the steel blades of the shadow creatures.

I put my arms out in front of me, and from the rush of adrenaline, I was surprised to have actually been able to shoot out some of that purple force. My parents paused to look at me shocked, have I mentioned I have totally told them about this.

Kira stands by the kitchen, and my eyes go when one of the creatures appears behind her. "Kira!"

Suddenly, but not surprisingly, twins burst through the living room windows. Leaving glass shards everywhere, but they had managed to attract the attention of the creature. I knew what Scott was planning, I think we all did when he shouted to Melissa to get the mountain ash.

I somehow managed to take control of my abilities, doing sort of the same thing I did with the picture frame. Except sort of the opposite, it was like the purple mist wrapped itself around one of the creatures at my command.

Okay then. I try not to get too distracted by this, keeping a firm hold on the creature as Scott kicks the creature through the front door.

"Mom, now!" Scott yells. "Do it now!" Melissa rushed over quickly to the door, jar of mountain ash in her hands that she threw at the base of the doorframe. She was the only one who could do it. Being human and all. The mountain ash spreads, creating a supernatural barrier that keeps the creatures out and us stuck inside.

"All the baseboards are ash wood?" Derek and my dad asked Scott. Scott nodded. "Uh, yeah, it was Deaton's idea."

Scott whirls to us, suddenly remembering how we just arrived unannounced. "And where the hell did you come from?"

"We've been following you." My dad replied. "For how long?" Derek shrugs. "All day." The two of them walk off, Scott turns to me with this confused look on his face. I shake my head, "Just don't ask."

I left him at the door to get something to eat from the kitchen since I technically didn't have time to finish my snack in the car. "You all might as well eat something," I said when I came across the twins and Kira in the kitchen. I pulled open the fridge door and pulled out a soda. "We are going to be here awhile." Ethan nodded.

"It's Kira, right?" Aiden asked Kira. She nods. "You going to tell us what you are?"

Kira frowns at him. I can practically hear her heart rate spiking. And if I can hear it, so can they. "What?" She pretends to not know what he's talking about. "What do you mean?" Aiden proceeded to grab her wrist. "Aiden," Ethan and I warned.

"Watch!" Aiden brought her hand to the forcefield and she was blocked. I wasn't exactly surprised, I know she isn't human. Considering the fact that she walked through a few hundred watts of electricity. "See that?" Aiden questioned us. "She can't go through it, either."

I almost laugh at Aiden. "Are you serious?"

"So you learn that Barrow was hunting kids with glowing eyes and you never stopped to ask yourself why he took Kira?" Oh come on, I thought everyone thought that

"So you learn that Barrow was hunting kids with glowing eyes and you never stopped to ask yourself why he took Kira?" Oh come on, I thought everyone thought that. Don't tell me he wasn't the only one who wondered why.

"She's a Kitsune, idiot." Derek said as he entered. I frowned in surprise, looking at Kira. "A kitsune?" I've never seen one before.

"Use your eyes–" My mom told us. "You can see it all around her. The younger ones give off an aura." I wonder why I never bothered to even check. "She just hasn't learned how to conceal it, yet. She probably doesn't know what kind she is, either."

Kira practically flees the second it is revealed. I can't tell whether it's because she wasn't ready for the whole group to know about it, or if she didn't even know what kind she was.

"I wasn't going to hurt her." Aiden defends. I shrugged as I raised my soda to my lips. "Not yet."

Aiden sighed, annoyed by me and my cousin. "Why do you think we're here, Derek? For a study group?"

"Well we do have a big test on Monday." I reminded them both. Both the twins glared at me for my remark. I grin back at them.

"We're here to protect Scott." Aiden corrected. Ethan nods. "We're trying to fight for him."

Derek nods and turns to them. "I'm sure you are. I'm sure you'd kill for him. But are you willing to die for him?" The twins are both silent, unsure of the answer I think. I know I don't have to think twice about that.

Even before Scott was an alpha, hell before he was a werewolf. I would have died for him. I still would, for him and all my friends. No hesitation necessary.
