"Stop." Derek ordered Cora who was doing pull ups on the bar. She was dressed for training, sports bra and pants. Derek and I tried talking her out of it, however she was a stubborn on, wanting to train. "You're not done healing."
"Yeah?" She dropped down and began to crouch on the floor for push ups. "Well, I'm done lying around."
"Then sit." Derek said, exasperated by his sister. I blew the strand of hair out of my face, elbow resting on the table with my cheek resting on my hand as I watched this scene. I would smile if I wasn't annoyed. This scene is what you would see almost every day at the Hale house. Just add Derek and Laura arguing about shotgun, Mom carrying a bunch of papers trying to usher Laura and Derek into the van. Cora and I were much calmer going to school, just a little bit, at least when Dad took us. When it was Peter we always missed the first class.
"Are you gonna help me go after them?" Cora asked as she did her push ups. Derek walked to her and moved her hand with his foot to make her lose her balance and fall. He swiftly turned around as Cora scowled behind him. She stood and tried punching him but he wouldn't.
"Come on," she yelled, raising her arm which he caught. "Fight back!" He pushed her arms down, not going to fight her. Cora scoffed at him, backing up in disappointment. "I came back for this?"
She turned away inspecting her hands. "I can't believe I got my ass thrown in a vault for three months for you!"
I sighed and stood by Derek. "All those rumors I heard. A powerful new Alpha. One of the Hales!" She turned to us. "Building a pack! Do you know how long I waited to hear something like that? Do you have any idea how it felt to find out you were all alive?"
"I'm sorry to disappoint you." Derek said grimly. "No one is disappointed in anyone." I said, crossing my arms at Cora. I understand she feels the need for revenge on the alphas, what she feels. But when we went to get Boyd and Erica at the bank we went without knowing anything, things went sideways really quickly. "I am sorry that you didn't get what you expected. But we've all changed since the fire."
She scoffed, crossing her arms. "No kidding." I'm about to argue with her when the alarm Derek and Peter had installed for security reasons when they bought the building began to blare. "What's that?" Cora asked, looking at the blinking red light.
"Trouble." The loft door opened and the alpha from the hospital, no longer wearing scrubs walked in. Cora drew her fangs and ran at him. Okay clearly it is a Hale trait to run before thinking. "Cora!" The alpha grabbed her by the throat and looked up at Derek and I. Eyes glowing red. "Ready for a rematch?"
I growl and extend my claws when a werewolf girl appears at the door. I went up first with fangs and claws at the ready. She swung her foot, she wasn't wearing any shoes, exposing the claws on her feet. I dodged them, grabbing her foot when it came. She smirked and lunged for my shoulders, I couldn't move away in time, with her claws dug into my shoulder she pushed me down, the two of us rolled on the ground, she kicked me towards the other alpha.
I tried hurrying to clamber to my feet before he grabbed me. Too late. He slammed a hand on my throat, blocking the air from reaching my lungs. I squirm under his grasp, trying to breathe. "Nice seeing you again Wolfe."
The sound of fighting is what made me temporarily stop my struggling. Cora and I watched Derek fight the weregirl. Helpless to stop it. My eyes went wide with fear when she spun a metal tube in her hands, I saw her intentions a mile away. "No!" I yelled as she plunged it deep into Derek's back. "DEREK!"
He was on his knees and hands, making it not the most pleasant position as the pole went through his chest.
I began to kick the alpha on me to make him let me go so I could help him. "DEREK!"
