I'm a day late, I know, I only got my internet back like... earlier today so I had to write this chapter lippity split and post it before it went off again. Sorry guys xx

[Charlotte's POV]

Demi and I quickly made our way through the trees, grabbing overlapping branches and hoisting ourselves onto the next tree to the next, the walkers followed us slowly below, what we would do when we reached the end of the forest we were unsure of.

I doubt we would get a car in time and we couldn't outrun the zombies, not all the way home at least.

Home... That sounds nice. I wish we never left it in the first place, look at all the good it's done, I doubt the group will do anything once we go back except maybe kick me and Demi out on to the streets out of anger and betrayal.

I love 'Gene but... Demi was right, a child has no place in an apocalypse I don't want my child to be here during the earth's ugly days.

I want to find absolute safety behind locked doors, somewhere no walker would ever be able to reach, somewhere high up, or somewhere down low. Somewhere, gaurded by walls that are metres thick and hundreds of metres high, only one way in, and one way out, the exit can be removed instantly, locking us all inside until the diseased are gone.

It's a stupid idea but we can't live in fear, we should lock ourselves away with all supplies we could ever find, begin rebuilding a mini city in this tiny place.

If there's a god, why can't he help us? Why does he sit back and ignore us?

Is this like the flood?

Another perge.

The two of us neared an opening and my heart fluttered at the sight of a better chance of escape, of running...

But for how long can we run?

I turned to watch Demi struggling through the trees behind me, she took her time and held onto each branch for dear life, each step she took looked like she was stepping closer to a horrible death.

That thought alone made me pause mid step, I stared down at the disgusting walkers below, flesh caught between their mouldy teeth and covered their dirty ripped clothes, some had limbs missing, others had massive chunks of flesh missing, yet each one walker and stared at Demi with one desire in their eyes.

The desire to feed.

'Come on you sick bastards!' I snarled. 'COME ON!'

Demi grabbed onto the branch beside mine and hoisted her body up and onto it in a seated position, one leg on each side of it, she stared up at me in confusion as I squezed my hands together, the cuts I recieved from the climbing pulsed out thick red blood which dripped onto the crowd of zombies.

They lapped it up, blood landed in some of their mouths as I shook my hands around, the zombies licked at their lips staring at me with bat shit crazy eyes.

'You like that don't you?' I growled. 'You make me sick, how can the human race sink so fucking low...'

'Charlotte...' Demi whispered.

I ignored her as I pulled my knife out and sliced across my palm, the blood fell faster and fell to the floor in large droplets.

'You digust me, how can you live while the survivors are dying? You're immune to pain, you can loose more blood than you have yet you can still put one foot in front of the other, you can survive without food for weeks, yet you live! How can you be?'

Suddenly, my wrists were grabbed and I was yanked to the left, I turned my head with my angry face on as Demi snarled at me, her hands holding mine tightly together.
