[Payton's POV]

When the bus took off out the compound, Charlotte and I were quick to sit beside each other, even though we weren't talking we both knew we had to find a way to get to our houses without Eugene and Daryl on our backs.

Daryl has to act like he hates me so I know that he won't hold anything back when making me stay, same with Eugene... But I think all his plans of confronting Charlotte went out the window the second he caught a glimpse of her broken and beaten body yesterday night.

'How long will this take?' Eugene hollowed down the bus.

The bus itself was an old american bus but the outside had been painted green and brown with blood all over the sides, we weren't riding the bus Eugene had fangirled about after all.

'30 minutes.' One of the men from the front of the bus stretched his arms up and turned to face the four of us. 'If we're lucky, Portsmouth had pretty clear roads last time we went there but we went by one car, we were able to squeeze.'

'What part of Portsmouth are we going?' I asked.

'We're going to go near the big Tesco on Southampton road, know it?'

'Yes.' I held back my grin, finally some luck, we were going right where I was hoping, just a few blocks from both mine and Charlotte's house.

'We've already cleared out most of the large superstores out off the main city and this one we're going to today was pretty empty, there's a bit of housing near by but walkers would have to walk around in a loop since the short cut was cut off according to some men who came down last week.'

'I see.'

'How often do you go on hunts like this?' Daryl asked. 'Quite far from your bass is pretty dangerous right, do you take precautions?'

'We don't do big ones like this very often, no.' Another man spoke up. 'We send two or three men down to the three big cities here Portsmouth, Southampton and Bournemouth. Brighton is a little rare for us though, it's a longer journey, Portsmouth is as far as Paul is going to risk. We tend to take twice the amount of petrol we think we'll need, extra guns and after every run a car is checked in every aspect. We take things like this very seriously.'

'What about survivors?' Charlotte spoke up at last. 'What do you do with survivors?'

'Never found any.' The man from before spoke up. 'We don't look for them really, looking after the ones we've got is hard enough, we need to stay on top of supplies in case something goes wrong and it's hard. Paul says we're going to have to start going into houses to find food and supplies soon because we're taking to many risks as it is going into big cities like this but they're the only places you can find food anymore.'

'Because what you just said made perfect sense.' I muttered sarcastically.

Charlotte kicked my ankle hard and I turned to her in irritation, she'd been bitching and moaning, why couldn't I?

I kicked her back and she groaned, moving to the front of the bus where the leaders of the hunt sat, Eugene stared after her and I watched his eyes fall into a pit of sadness.

Charlotte, I want to punch you so hard your breasts burst, you silly cow. I get that she wants the baby but the least she can do is talk to him and I'm not saying Eugene is frigging Angel Gabriel, he should also move his arse and talk to her.

Daryl moved over from beside Eugene and slided beside me, he grabbed my hand without me realising and twisted his fingers around mine.

'What are you doing?' I hissed. Thanks Daryl! Just blow our cover to everyone why don't you?
