[Payton's POV]

I opened the door and gawped at the beautiful large kitchen infront of me.

I twirled on my feet, my flowing dress twirling up to halfway up my thigh before falling flat again.

'None of this is real.' I whimpered and stepped forward towards the window.

The front garden which I looked at was awful, it looked so dry and gross. No nice green grass and live trees it all just looked... Dead.

'It's different isn't it?' Charlotte familar voice whispered behind me.

I turned around and nodded. 'It's... awful.'

She smiled weakly and stepped towards me, wrapping her sleek muscular arms around my shoulders.

One thing I don't understand is how I remember me being overweight and absolutely no muscle and suddenly I'm skinnier and my muscles are, like, huge.

The same with Charlotte.

'Charlotte...' I whispered. 'Why didn't you want to die? Wouldn't that be better than here?'

She pulled away and glared at me. 'Thats the same attitude you had when this whole thing started and I'm going to say the exact same thing now that I told you then. You need to shut up! We're one of the lucky ones who get to live everyday.'

I snorted. 'You call this living?'

'Fine surviving, skavenging I don't care. People would love to be in your position to have a chance to live, to be the very first person to ever be saved from the dreaded walkers. You need to take a good look around at the people who have lost people and want them back more than anything.'

'But that's the thing, Charlotte! I can't remember loosing people, I can't remember what walkers act like, what they do, how I used to fight them, how you used to fight them, how I felt for the past 3 months.'

'They'll come back, Payton. That's all we can hope for.' She growled.

'You think there's an escape, Charlotte, from a outbroken disease that only death can cure? I don't think so. We're all going to die, no one can win this battle except the risen or god and jesus but I don't think they'd want to get involved, there's also the debate still that they even exist!'

'ALL WE HAVE IS HOPE!!!! That's all we have!!! I know that! We're like children hoping that santa claus will come as we wait eagerly downstairs.' She snapped. 'That's all, I know. Everyone knows, but hope is what's kept us alive four months, it will keep up alive longer.'

I turned away. 'I don't care, Charlotte. I don't see the point to it and I don't even know because I haven't seen anything. Where's my bedroom in this house?'

'Attic.' Charlotte murmered and I stormed away.

I ran up the flight of the stairs, then the next one till I reached a little open doorway with more stairs, on the door way and around the frame was little pictures, picture cut outs from magazines and little drawings clearly done by a child.

Probably a little boy since his name ''Luke'' was signed at the bottom of every hand drew picture.

Luke... Why did the name sound so familiar yet I could put a face with the name? I couldn't remember any memories, I couldn't remember why all these pictures were next to the door to my room.
