[Paytons POV]

Arrow after arrow I shot at each coming walker.

'I'm down to perhaps... 11 arrows left.' I snarled aloud.

'Shit... I have guns but we can't use them. More walkers will come and we'll be stuck for good. No car. We need to kill these ones without making a sound then make a run. We can fight off small groups easier.' Charlotte gulped.

'Thanks for telling me the fricking obvious.' I snapped and fired yet another arrow out.

10.

'I'm sorry but I'm panicing here!' She snapped back.

'Well shut up! I don't care if I die either way or not but I know you don't want to so I'll kill as many as need be.' I muttered.

'Just shut up, Payton! Its all self-pity with you!'

'Can you blame me? My family are dead. In fact, everyones dead. We're really the last ones. I don't see a brighter future ahead, Charlotte.'

Charlotte flapped her arms up and sighed. 'I lost people too, Payton.'

'But you were prepared! That night at work when Rachel died, you shot that walker like I would slap a bug. I was scared. You knew and was prepared. I was not. I saw one of my bestfriends all over the room. Blood on the ceiling, on the shelves.' I shivered as the past greeted by unwilling mind.

Memories don't fit well with me.

'I know. I had the upperhand and if I didn't we would be dead.'

'Maybe thats how it should be.' I growled.

I fired several more arrows and gulped.

'3 left.' I whispered.

'Use them well. Remember the saying, ''Two birds, one stone.''' Charlotte gulped and placed her hand on my shoulder. 'And I'm sorry. For everything. I guess I should cut you some slack. You lost everything without any notice. Your world was ripped away from you.'

I breathed deeply as I stared at the group of walkers below me.

There was still perhaps 20 left.

3 arrows. 20 walkers.

Yes of course we'll fucking win!

Note the sarcasm.

'Thanks, Charlotte.' I whispered. 'You're still my best friend. I love you loads. Thank you for everything you've ever done for me. Its to long a list for me to name everything and... Good luck.'

She stared at me in confusion but then it dawned on her.

I snatched the axe from her arms and stood on my feet quickly using the tree as a helper.

I gulped as I stared at the drop.

Only 2 metres but it looks hell a lot more from up here.

'I wish you the best.' I muttered and stared at Charlotte. 'I love you...'

And I jumped.

'Who do you hate the most?' Luke snickered and stared at us.

His glasses hung low on his nose and his same deep brown curly hair swayed with the wind.

'My dad...' Tegan muttered.

I sighed and hugged her tightly while Rachel and Kylie laid reasuring hands on her leg as we sat quiet underneath the climbing frame at the park next to Tegans house.
