*Tsundere is a Japanese character development process that describes a person who is initially cold and even hostile towards another person before gradually showing his or her warm side over time (A/N What's the point in putting these meanings at the end of a chapter? You'd have read the word already by then and moved on from it.)

[Payton's POV]

Daryl clung tightly to my arm as we crawled across the roof towards an open air vent, when we reached it we stared down to see a ladder leading up to it. I stood up and pulled Daryl up onto me, leaning nearly all of his weight on one shoulder.

'Conveniant.' I mumbled.

'Yes, but convenient isn't actually a thing anymore, Payton.' Daryl coughed. 'Someone must of tried to escape, maybe there's walkers inside.'

'Or maybe there's no supplies, there's a whole lot of reasons why someone tried to get out,' I puffed. 'and come on, lets say walkers were trying to get him, he must've been able to put up a ladder and climb out a window before they clawed at his legs.'

'Maybe he didn't climb out in time.'

'Well... Maybe he died, maybe he didn't, maybe he didn't exist and we just made him up just for the sake of arguing with each other yet a-fucking-gain. We don't have a choice, Daryl, we can't sit on the roof until you bleed to death or starve, whichever comes first.' I snapped.

Daryl rolled his eyes, pulling himself up a bit to take a bit of his weight of me as, I'm sure he noticed, my knees bent more and more as seconds passed.

Daryl tried to balance on his feet more before leaning down and touching the ladder with his hand, he wiped the top of it and pulled it up.

'It's dusty.' He mumbled.

'Been here a while then.' I frowned reaching into his back pocket pulling out his torch. I bent down into a squat and shined the light down the hole, searching the top four steps of the ladder. 'No blood, dry or otherwise.'

'Well... That's... a good sign I guess, no one who got out was injured.' He muttered back.

'I guess the only thing we can do now is send me down.' I quickly jumped onto the ladder before Daryl could stop me and ducked my head before he could grab my top and yank me back up.

'Payton!' Daryl snarled, his hand missing me by centimetres.

Oh how did I know he would lunge for me? Maybe it was my Spidey Sense, this guy is so predictable.

I smiled sweetly up at him as I shined the torch below me, the ladder was tall, the ceiling was much higher than a normal ceiling in some house, it was literally twice the size.

'Oh how freaking cliche...' I growled before calling up to Daryl. 'It's a Chapel!'

It was dark so I couldn't see much except for the little amount of light being let in from the small stain glass windows in one corner of the room.

Daryl scoffed from above me. 'I guess it's one of those big buildings that used to have several church rooms with useless vicar's, the ones that got drunk and abused-'

'Ok thank you!' I interrupted him. 'Let's let the stereotypes die with that sentence.'

'I'm just saying, now come back up here, we know what it is.'

'No.' I mumbled inaudibly. I continued to squint my eyes as I tried to put nouns to shapes in the darkness.

I knew there were chairs, lots of them in big rows with three aisles, one on the right, one on the left and one straight down the middle, at the front I could see a table with some small things littered across it.
