57. Happy Ending of Sorts

Hayley swatted both boys over their underpants as they stood side-by-side in the corner. She didn't know how Aaron would take to her swatting him. Although, Hayley was a werewolf, she wasn't using much of her strength. She just wanted to sting their behinds a little to make a point about obeying. She was pretty sure Elijah would have a firmer talk with both of them later.

Even after Elijah's stern talk, Aaron had produced a little fire ball to amuse Moses. It caught the edge of the curtains on fire and the boys were able to quickly put it out before it spread.

Damon and Enzo were walking past and ran in as Hayley said yelling at the boys and punctuating her lecture with an odd smack.

"Whoa! What happened here?" Damon said taking in the burnt curtain and ash.

Hayley took at breath, "Aaron here was doing magic after he just got grounded from it. Luckily, the boys were able to put out the fire."

Enzo grinned wryly, "Uh-oh, I think boys who play with fire ought to feel a fire in the seat of their pants. A bloke almost burned down our entire work house playing with matches when I was a lad. He ran off before they ever caught him."

Damon spied Enzo critically, "That was you, Enzo. You told me that story fifty years ago."

Enzo chuckled, "Aye, it was me. No one was hurt, but I really despised that work house. Wasn't for me."

Hayley frowned at his cheek. "Maybe you need to get in the corner here, too? If not, could one of you get Elijah, please?"

Enzo took the chance to leave, "Uh, I'll get him. No problem."

Damon shook his head and continued down to his room. Hayley told the boys to leave their pants at their knees and went to the bathroom to splash some water on her face. She felt badly for yelling, but the fire scared her. She just got Moses back and was terrified of losing him again. She had also grown fond of the blond, preppy Aaron. He was different from anyone she had known before. Aaron had fine manners and a politeness to him that hid a core of sadness. Money and prestige could not replace the loss of your parents. Hayley knew that nothing could really fill that hole except surrounding yourself with people you loved and cherished.

Hayley came out of the bathroom and found Elijah surveying the damage.

"Hayley, what happened?" Elijah asked calmly. He surmised that Hayley had spanked the boys as he saw some handprints on their thighs and they were both shifting from foot to foot in the corner and Moses was muffling soft sobs.

"I swatted their butts for them. I came in and saw them putting out a fire in the curtains. Aaron admitted her was making a fireball and lost control of it," Hayley shared.

"Why don't you go finish packing? I'm going to send Moses to bed early and give Aaron a good reminder on what happens when he disobeys," Elijah said quietly.

"Elijah, I think Moses needs a little spanking, too. He begged Aaron to do the spell. He knew he wasn't allowed to do it and encouraged him. They both could have been hurt or worse. Just because he is little and cute doesn't mean he isn't being defiant," Hayley reasoned.

Elijah nodded, "You're right, of course. Go on, I've got this."

Hayley went over and apologized for shouting at the boys, "I'm sorry that I yelled at you guys like that. I love you both and I got scared. Now, you obey Elijah and I'll see you in the morning. Night."
